    A. England player = a player who plays for the England team

    B. English player = a player who is English by nationality.

    A is a sub-set of B. Both terms are equally correct when applied to Rooney.

    A is a sub-set of B. Both terms are equally correct when applied to Rooney.
    A is not always a sub-set of B, for example in the case of Kevin Pietersen (cricket) or Owen Hargreaves (football) where only A applies.
