A lot of the ones already mentioned plus:

    CCR - CCR
    Scott 2 - Scott Walker
Anthem of the Sun - The Grateful Dead
Child is Father to the Man - Blood, Sweat and Tears
    Traffic - Traffic
    Steppenwolf - Steppenwolf
The Hurdy Gurdy Man - Donovan

    Plus
Ogdens Nut Gone Flake - Small Faces - One of the greatest albums of any year!! (edit: just noticed Charlton Road James beat me to it - goes without saying that I agree!!)

    What a year 1968 was!!

First VDGG album was this year although I'd not really call it a 'great' album. Opening and closing tracks are quite something though

So many popular bands released their debut albums that year: VDGG already mentioned but also This Was by Jethro Tull, Shades Of Deep Purple (and The Book of Talliesyn), Fleetwood Mac, 2 albums by The Steve Miller Band and plenty more. None of them would be labeled as classics, though.

I'll add Spirit by Spirit as a top album for '68.
