Teenage Support

Right.... theres been alot of talk and complaints about our antics on an away coach to blackburn. we have appologised for this and will keep it lower next time however, there where people suggesting that they shouldnt let big groups of 'kids' travel together, and somebody suggested that we stop goin because we are putting off other 'more loyal' supporters!

well im sorry to say that i think that this is total rubbish. i believe that me n my friends 'the 21's' are one of the most loyal groups of supporters going. we have traveled all over the country this season rain or shine, saturday or sunday, whatever the circumstances may have been, weve missed topps 4 away games this season, and i think im right to beleive that not many people could say that. And for people to try and tell us to not go is utter crap. the way i see it is that the club needs MORE supporters like us because if we dont come up through supporting charlton from a younger age... where are all of our fans going to come from in forthcoming years?

if you ban teenagers from travelling in big groups that will somewhat put a few of us off going therefore killing off the clubs future supporters. you may say that if our support is the future, then you dont want to be part of it, then that is fair enough. However wether you like it or not, lets face it, the club needs us.

  • to be honest the reason I don't go by coach is you can get some right annoying canutes.... methinks perhaps they should designate coaches as young, old, family, etc?
  • Mate I have no problem with Younger fans going in groups. You should have seen the state of the group from the Older generation on the MInibus to Ewood, not very pretty. Thing is though we made sure we did not put ourselves in the position where we might honk anyone else off. If you are gonna take advantage of a freebie, EXPECT to be put in with family's & young 5-6 year olds & act accordingly.

Fair play & respect to you & your crew for your loyalty to our Club.
  • good idea, like a family coach, an oap sleeping coach and a rowdy youngsters coach haha. however, if we did have youth coaches the there would probably be alot of trouble and bills to be paid, but i guess after a few games of this, the kids will learn.
  • You've apologised and said you'll tone it down so well done for that. I don't see a problem with you travelling in a group, surely that is half the fun off an awayday as long as you don't go over the top.

I make you right. We, as a club, want and welcome all types of fans including younger ones so keep up the support.

    BTW why the 21s?
  • a yoof coach....
  • Don't stop going and don't stop enjoying yourselves. I think all people were saying is show a little bit more respect if there are women and children around which I'm sure you will next time.
  • Couldn't agree more. You're right the club needs you and if you've apoolgised and promised to keep the noise down next time then fair play to you for that as well. If people have said you shouldn't go then that's ridiculous, i think generally most people would just ask for a bit of consideration to others next time that's all.
  • I believe the yoof are the future.

Teach them well and let them lead the way.

    FACT.
  • Everyone has been complaining for years that we have missed a generation of support - well now it seems that a new generation are not only attending the valley but also going to away games.
Many of us were not angels when we travelled in our teens - far from it - perhaps the only difference is that we travelled normally by train in the 70's so didn't annoy so many people.
These kids will be the core of our away support for many years same as we were years back. Let's not deter them.
    C'mon you Reds!!!
  • Henry... the reason for the name 21's is because there was a record number of 21 (doesnt seem much) of us that went to blackburn, and every one that was on our coach called us the 21's and we kinda liked it and its stuck! =]

and yeah we do appreciate that people were pissed at us because of a bit of foul language around the littlens and we will definately tone it down next time and try to respect everyone around us.

and stone muse.... we do usually get the train, unfortuneately coach was our only option for blackburn as we obv, as kids, couldnt afford the plane.

thanks for the + comments addickss!!!

  • i was the one that started 'moaning' about the coach journey.
first of all i never said you should not go and i honestly admire your loyalty, my whole point was about being around other fans on the journey that are not up for them antics. as (one of) you posted, you usually go by train and therefore the coach option for this once was forced upon you. i just think for this once some of your group could have been a little more respectful to others as they cant go to another carriage. all of the things that i said happened on that coach, did actually happen, though in hindsight they all may not have been done by all or part of your group. for me the most disappointing thing was the number of times the (volunteer) steward had to react to antics.
anyway i understand youre going to liverpool on saturday and travelodging it. please leave the rooms tidy as we are going up and travelodging it for the sunday ;-).
seriously if by me bringing it up on this forum, 1 or 2 of you think twice whilst around kids etc it would've been worth it. at the end of the day, in the ground we all want the same outcome.

oh, and when posting, speak proper english innit.
  • What gets me is that you lot can afford the train and nights in hotels and you're how old? 16?
When i was 16 i just about afforded the bus fare to bexleyheath to get the coach!
  • YoungAddick...and the other 21s, good on you for supporting Charlton.

haha, yeah well a few of us work and other than that we sponge off parents... but however we do it, we really dont have enough money to do anything else! but atleast we enjoy what were spending it on.

and ill keep doing it aslong as i can =]

and paul, yeah we will leave the rooms tidy, dont worry about that, and if its not the warrington hotel your staying in, not to worry anyway, have a good weekend, and again were sorry for upsetting you and family/friends last saturday.
  • [cite]Posted By: YoungAddickCws[/cite] we really dont have enough money to do anything else!

i know a minibus full of people that might be intrested in buying your (stolen) porn for the liverpool trip. that should offset some of the cost.
  • haha, they can have it if they can find any of it!
  • [cite]Posted By: LoOkOuT[/cite]I believe the yoof are the future.

Let the yoofs laughter remind us how we used to be.

better than spending it on phones with no ear phones, knives or guns!!

good on you guys for being loyal! keep it up!!!

don't forget a lot of the oldies have put the time and effort over the years, and although on this season you may feel you've done your bit, their old and bitterness reserves them their right to tut and roll their eyes at you for a few hours. :-)
  • yeah of course! i totally respect people that make effort to go to as many games as they can, wether that being 20 years ago or the current season, were all in it together, and we all want the same thing!

    UP THE ADDICKSS!!!!!

  • Well done mate, youve earnt my respect by apologising. Any one of the other 20 gonna do the same lol. I admit that i've only been to one away game this season because of lack of money, and i give you lot a hell of a lot of credit for following the club anywhere and everywhere, and you should be proud of yourself for being the one who has promised to keep it down next time you are on a coach. Good on ya mate!
  • The future looks to be in good hands with this YoungAddickCws fella - good on yer mate.

(Don't worry, you'll be old one day and then you can get all arsey about "the yoof of today" too - just as generations have before you!)
    ;o)
  • Hey 21's - Thanks for listening and glad you kinda get what we were on about!!
Just think of all the great away games for next season!!
  • Good post YoungAddickCws. You've apologised now (again) and it's time to put this to bed. I think you have realised that you overstepped the mark and that's all people were really saying. Of course nobody wants you to stop going, quite the opposite, but just to respect others in certain situations. BTW, the stewards are unpaid volunteers and Charlton fans and as such also want to enjoy their day out without any hassle. Anyway, have a good weekend at Liverpool and Up The Addicks !! See you there.
  • well done kid lol

at leas tya man enough to apologise - you pesky kids tsch HAHAHAHA
  • Ive voiced my views in the other thread lads. Good on you, youngsters playing up - nothing new with that we've all been there. (even if the older people on there want to eradicate their memories)

Well done lads and good on you YAcw for apologising. Like others have said I was young once. Supporting a football team should be open to all age groups and those of us who have got a bit of time on our faces should be pleased that people are following in our footsteps.

I have to acknowledge that I have become more outspoken and less tolerant of youthful exuberance as I have got older and this is not something of which I am particularly proud. Provided that some give and take is offered and accepted by all, then none of us should be unhappy. Keeping in mind that there may be children in earshot and moderating things to take that into account is a good idea.

On the subject of swearing, it's always a difficult one as, even within the same generation, there are conflicting views as regards inappropriateness. The worst swearing I have encountered at home games was a thirty-something woman who sat a couple of rows behind me who kept up a stream of the most foul invective for pretty much the whole game. The worst at an away game was at 'Boro last year when some blokes behind me (all at least Forty), kept up abusive and racist comments the whole game. They had children with them as well!!

    Keep up the support!!

    COME ON YOU REDS!!
  • the 21s is growing noww lol more than 21 peeple now cant wait till next season gna be qualityy kmon u addicksss
