  • Very good.

When we get the new museum site up and running (this side of Christmas, thank ITRM) we'll be able to add photos like this to the catalouge of items, if that is OK with you Derek.

    Top row ?; Kevin Dickenson?; Kevin Smith; Martin Robinson; Phil Harrison?; Paul Curtis; the old main stand;

Middle Row: mark Aizlewood; Lennie Lawrence; Tommy Taylor; Mark Huyler; Steve White; Mark Huyler; Kevin Dickensen?

Bottom Row: Huyler on the pitch with two others; Nicky Jones; Steve Gritt
  • Is top right Barry Little?
  • Pic 1 Steve dowman Pic 5 Carl Harris

I reckon Kevin Dickenson is defo to the right of Mark Hulyer bottom row (compare with picture below). Not sure about blondie on top row who might be Barry Little? And next to Robo - Carl Harris? @HenryIrving

I agree Carl Harris for 5 and Phil Ferns is a good shout for 1.

Dowman had a perm if memory serves me right.

No wonder we can't get the sixties ones we're struggling 20 years on too!

Had a closer look. 1 is Phil Ferns and 5 Carl Harris (doing an impersonation of Phil Ferns).

NB This reminds me that I was at another party in Plumstead back in the day & Paul Curtis was there.

He was a complete bell as well (as Paul Walsh).

Except that they were at opposite ends of the spectrum. Walsh found the opponents net often whereas Curtis helped the oppo find our net often
  • Dont know how I missed Killer.

Too late Derek he's already got a contract out on you
  • So this is the open day before the start of the 82/3 season when Craggs started as manager and was sacked to be replaced by Lennie?

I didn't go but didn't Huyler suggest dropping "Athletic" from the club's name? @Norman_Smith
  • Ken Craggs was second to Alan Mullery ,they both came from Brighton and Mike Bailey went to Brighton,if memory serves correct.

Second top is definitely Barry Little, sadly died very young.
  • Didn't know that :-(
  • Could be Ferns,Dowman did have a perm. I remember a couple of own goals bouncing in off it now you mention it.

Third Row: Customers, Mark Aizlewood, Lennie Lawrence
Fourth Row: Tommy Taylor, Mark Hulyer, Steve White
Fifth Row: Hulyer, Kevin Dickenson, Ken Craggs
Sixth Row: Steve Gritt, Nicky Johns

The open day from 1982, not 1984

Will never forget his late winner at Fulham though. First away win in over a year
  • Thanks Shirty5 for year correction I knew it was early 80s.

This looks right to me. Apart from Fifth Row Middle.....looks like Robin Askwith.
  • I thought top left(first photo) was Phil Ferns.
  • I remember going to an open day when alan mullery was manager - went inside the main stand - the changing rooms and bath were a complete dump, really poor - but when you went in the boardroom it was all wood panels and even had stained glass windows I think - talk about them and us - I remember them presenting mullery with a cheque on the pitch - when we were driving home my dad was going on about how much he thought mullery was a complete c#ck and was too far up his own arse - halcyon days
  • Bump.......

    if only for the haircuts/perms.
