Kings School Ely (where my daughter is a matron) are proud of their former pupil England and Charlton Athletic goal keeper. (I added the Charlton bit.)
Now confirmed that Pope will start the next two games for England too.
Pleased to hear that’s he’s getting his chance. Selfishly just hoping Tottenham will sign him as struggling to think where else he’s going to get a big money move in next couple of years for Charlton to get the big payday.

I thought there wasn’t a sell on for NP ?
Rumoured to be 20% of any sell on!
I thought I read in the VOTV that there wasn’t one for him. Hope you are right
I'm surprised ESI didn't cash the sell on's in. Either they didn't know about them (kudos to whoever in the club kept that little secret) or Roland made himself the sole beneficiary (pretty likely given what he did at Standard).
3rd party ownership is illegal in this country, RD not allowed to personally have a sell on, only the selling club.
It may be illegal, but I think it would be naive to assume it doesn’t go on.
It was legal in Belgium, at least it was a few years ago. Batshuayi's parents tried to get their son out of the contract which RD drew up when he took advantage of the player's youth (a teen then) and inexperience.
It is looking increasingly
likely that Chelsea have won the race to sign Belgian international striker
Michy Batshuayi. The Marseille star, who has
been heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham this summer, now looks
likely to be joining new manager Antonio Conte at Chelsea this summer.
Sky Sports reported today
that he has passed a medical with the club and will complete a £33 million move
shortly. Well, according to reports in
Belgium, this will be music to the ears of the
Addicks’ controversial owner Roland Duchatelet. He previously owned Standard
Liege, Batshuayi’s club prior to his Marseille move. When he sold the club to
Bruno Venanzi it is reported by Het Belang Van Limburg that
he personally retained the sell-on percentage for the striker, should he leave
Marseille.
As this is the Nick Pope thread perhaps it should be left here. Don't know if RD ever got the pay-off from Chelsea. If anyone does want to carry on with it - start another thread?
Pope isn't known for his distribution, but then he plays in a team which doesn't pass from the back so probably never gets to practice this in training
It will be interesting to see if he can improve this if he moves to more of a "footballing" side
Looked pretty shakey with his feet last night I must say, nearly gave away a goal at the end with a poor kick. Must be difficult playing in a side intent on playing out from the back after spending the last few seasons at Burnley.
You or wherever you read that, are getting Nick Pope and Pope Francis mixed up. Pope Francis is going to watch from the Vatican as he can't now go and watch. Easy mistake to make between a 29 year old English Keeper and a 84 year old Argentinian Catholic.
Great stat about how much Burnley need Pope. They’ve lost all 5 league games without him, conceding average 3.4 goals per game, compared to only 1.2 with him.
He needs to play a blinder and get himself in the shop window ASAP.
Despite in my expert opinion Nick Pope being a better all round keeper than Pickford; being a sweeper keeper is now in fashion and kicking now seems to be equally as important as a safe pair of hands. For that reason I feel Nick will be number 2 to Virgil van Dijk's nemesis.

Last year he confirmed we have several sell on clauses in place despite rumours ESI had sold them.
