I always thought he was built for the Championship.
Could it be that with reports of The Valley surface cutting up v West Ham we see the first Charlton player to take a dive due to a divert next season.
Sadly I wasn't at Leeds to see his wonder goal where their defender ducked underneath his strike so my only memories of him are one bad miss and a lot of throwing himself to the floor. Still, Watford got promoted with Forristeiri(?) so maybe it is just the way football is going.
I think reza is gonna surprise a fair few people this season. We're a completely different side to when he was last here, the Luzon way is going to suit him
If this Henry deal doesn't happen, keep in mind Reza can also play Winger
To be fair (and I am one of those who want to give him another chance) people are saying one of the reasons he didn't shine last time is because he wasn't played in his proper position we saw at the World Cup. So bringing him back and playing him on the wing is nonsensical.
It's a long shot, but if the guy who played in the world cup could show up with different players around him who knows, stranger things have happened. The Bolton game could just be his reintegration moment. He must try to mix with the other players. If only there was someone else in the squad who plays the fiddle ?
We could get Harry Redknapp in as Reza's personal coach and mentor - he's good on the fiddle......
I watched all of Reza's games here in Oz in the Asian Cup.
He is very much a 'touch' player, he's not fast or strong, but does have good close control and his best asset is his eye for goal - scored a couple of scrappy goals in the tournament.
He is not going to hold it up or run the channels so you really need to let him stay central - and be in the box as much as possible.
If we are paying his wages then surely he's worth another look?
Thing is you've seen over the years players from various countries who have dips in form right before a Major Tournament because they dont want to suffer injury.
If this was the case for Reza not putting in the effort then in a way I cant blame him, Iran hadnt previously been to a World Cup since 2006 and it may have been Reza's only chance to play on the big stage, it seems to be only the English players who make sure they only have the dip in form come the actual tournament whereas for their clubs they play their heart out right up until the end of the season (Which is why it might be a struggle for us to understand)
Of course what Reza cant be forgiven for is what happened last summer after the World Cup when he wanted the big move and ended up in Kuwait... If he's now happy enough to admit he's made a mistake by putting in the performances for Charlton, then he deserves another chance, am sure we've all made mistakes ourselves and have all asked for second chances in our lives

The reason we won't finish in the top six is because we have no one to score the scrappy goal or tap in. Big Mak will be a decent target man, but will be amazed if he reaches double figures, Magic feet Tony will score some worldy but miss some easy chances, KAG is starting to look the part but may still be a season too early. Igor injury issue means he never seem too be fully fit and hasn't the confidence of early last season. Can Pigott do the business at champ level ? looking unlikely. Let Reza know that it last chance saloon time, Teams weren't queuing up to buy him after the WC, we have a more balanced squad now and a better home pitch to play on. You may only be 4th or 5th striker but grab your chance or else go to pastures new.
Only someone like Luzon, privvy to the training ground, can see how's Reza is able to link with the JBGs and others of hopefully better class and vision than the last time he was here. If we are paying his wages it is obvious he must be given the chance subject to attitude.
If (bid if) there was a Ben Haim sectarian issue then you'd think he'd have it with Luzon with knobs on. That sort of hatred ain't rational.
Reza hasn't exactly earned a second chance. He strutted about the pitch as if it belonged to him when he joined us, lacked any kind of team or work ethic, and then jumped ship at the first opportunity. I'm unconvinced by the player, but even less so by the character. I wouldn't be unhappy if we never saw him again.

Nice to know you've been at training watching him not working his ass off and not training extra on his own to ensure he is earning another shot.

Yeah but he's only doing the extra work so that he can put himself in the shop window!!

If he's good enough for the window, he's probably good enough for us.

Sorry @Dazzler21 going to be forced to give you a small Whoosh there...
But I agree how do we know what he's doing in training, if he's putting in 100% effort then keep him, I bet if he wasnt putting in the effort he'd be no where near Bolton right now and someone from the U21s / U18s who maybe hasnt travelled will have gone in his place

I'd rather Reza play on the Wing than sit on the bench as 4th choice striker, at least until we get a proven left winger in or until Moussa finally gets back

Forgive me for having an opinion on a player who in the first team - which is where it matters - has hardly set the world alight or ever looked like he wanted to. Until he shows it on the pitch, I couldn't care less if he's the best trainer in the world. Kim Grant used to look like John Salako in training, according to Curbs, but he looked like John Inman on the pitch.
I would doubt there's a pro footballer in the country who isn't working his ass off pre-season, but each will have a different motivation. Or are you telling me that you know for a fact what Reza's thinking and that his motivation is to do the best for the club and the fans and not to be ready for another move?
There's no 20 goal striker in there at this level. I'd be delighted to be proved wrong, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if he never played in our first team again.
Never seen Reza play for Charlton, but saw a very good player at the World Cup. Any player that can cause problems against an Argentinian defence, must surely be up to Championship standard. Perhaps his focus was on the World Cup rather than us the last time round. Lets get behind him, he may surprise us.
If he's as weak and dive-happy as he was before, I really can't see him making much of an impact, good luck to him though he definitely has some talent
