    The Charlton Babes was the nickname of the young side that Charlton fielded in the 1923 FA Cup. Charlton were in Div Three South at the time and disposed of (three?) First Division teams. I always presumed that the name was a nod to that part of our history, whilst giving a titillating handle for the internet.

    A bit late to the party, but another former 606er/CAFCbabe ("babe" isn't my choice of words, I'm far too masculine!) here so hello to all those I have conversed with and met in the past.

    I had forgotten all about a2c. His way of typing used to send my autistic brain in to a meltdown.

    Was a great forum and met some good people from it and cafcdave.

    Miss the Bombay TV stuff.

    606 was good too although annoying waiting for every frigging post to be moderated before showing up.

    I don't think it was anything as highbrow as that.

    As I recall it was originally set up, in the days before Facebook etc, as a way for some of the regulars on the 606 forum to post up a pic of themselves - a kind of putting a face to name type of thing. Nothing more or less innocent than that. I think the site name was just a bit of tongue in cheek and self deprecating.

    Once the 606 closed down I think the forum element got tagged on and a lot of us old 606ers migrated over there, but it gradually dwindled. Shame as it really was a cracking forum in its heyday that manged to stay mainly on respectful conversation rather than the slanging matches heated debates that a lot of other message boards have a propensity to descend into.

    It's where Dr Kish. to live in his old guise of Frankie Valley.

    Wasted many an hour of work on CAFCBabes! Tried to log in a few days ago and sorry to see it seems to have shut down. Nice that there's a memorial thread here though.

    On the name thing, a mad ex of mine was convinced that CAFCBabes had to be a porn site. I once tried to load it up to convince her it wasn't... Only for it to bring up a large picture of the rather fit Brazilian lass I used as my avatar. The funny side she did not see.
