Always good to see an academy product win it. He's been pretty much ever present bar the Bournemouth game I think. Asked to do a tough job out in a position that was unfamiliar and let's be honest, let's be honest, was detrimental to his own personal development.
The forest home game stood out for me. He was real class that night. Personally I voted for JBG.
I will say however that I don't think or can't see Cousins at the moment as a Prem player. Of course he's young his game will get better, but I thought Parker bossed him off the park in the Fulham home game, and he was just doing very simple things to a high standard. You might think I'm being a tad harsh but we've all been watching football long enough to know when you are good, or when you are next level. Not sure Cousins will be for me.
I also thing that of the two, Poyet is/was better and he didn't get a sniff at west ham
He isn't yet, but he can be. Improve the passing - which he has in his locker - improve goals - which he has in his locker and add it to what he is doing consistently now and you have a premiership player.
Solly was quick witted and funny when I had a brief word with him, very likeable, and I also have to say that Guy Luzon was very friendly and had a warmth about him which doesn't come over on media.

Yes, I have been watching football seriously for 40 years. I do feel I can spot a great player and have done on a number of occasions. For opponents too. BTW - really impressed with the Leeds number 4 Austin. If I was a manager, I'd try to get him in.
I agree about tony watt I asked him if he had had enough coz the photo he did with my boy wasn't the best he just said short and sharp no I'm fine but he may well have been pissed I would have to say ben Roberts was by far my favourite to talk to iv spoken to him a number of times what a genuine down to earth bloke
Also really hope @GlassHalfFull had a wonderful night celebrating his 60th season following Charlton. A lovely, kind, generous guy, and I know he took a few friends with him last night, so hope you had a great night Alan.
Is it GlassHalfFull that does the book/programme parcels for overseas supporters? That makes him a top man in my book. I'm sure he still is though, even if I'm thinking of someone else.
Sounds like Diarra is a top bloke, shame Watt couldn't have made more of an effort - that being said the couple of times he's been paraded into Crossbars after a game for the man of the match award he's looked really uncomfortable, perhaps he's just shy and doesn't enjoy these sorts of things.

I think Watt is just one of those people with a miserable-looking face -probably gets fed up of everyone telling him to cheer up all the time! As long as he lets his football do the talking on the pitch, that's fine by me.

When I first saw Cousins, he was the U18 right back and he looked horrendous. His improvement since then has been phenomenal. Don't write the lad off; people who want to improve badly invariably do . I guarantee he's improved more than Poyet this season
Watt strikes me as quite a shy awkward person. It's probably contributed to the claims about his attitude problem in the past, but some people just can't switch on the friendly public face. Some players like Church and Jackson are outgoing friendly types and they're perfect for this kind of event but I imagine it took a decent amount of effort for Watt to show up and be as engaging as he could. Of course, that's just my impression of him, he might just think we're all right bastards

Agree with this 100%. Should have been there myself last night, but couldn't due to injury, and you wont meet another as kind, thoughtful and generous as GHF. Hope he had the most wonderful evening. He deserved it!

Voted for Jordan. Consistent effort over the full season and did a job for the team in an un-familiar position when asked to do so. Proper team player.
Watt is going to be a very important player for us next season. I want the club to get him as fit as he has ever been. Vetokele too. We need to be focusing on a big push next season, and both of them will be key to this. I don't care if he doesn't smile much!!!
I think people judge players far too easily, and expect too much the saying never meet your hero's should be remembered as they are just men normal and when not playing football have other things they probably want to do and to be

Well, I've finally surfaced but still in my pjs as I post this.
I really wish I could be more relaxed and enjoy these evenings but am far too stressed in case something goes awry. However, there were not too many hitches this time & I believe most present had an enjoyable evening.
One of the few perks to being an organiser is that we ( killerjerrylee & myself) have the pick of the players to sit with us and our friends, and with TWWW buying tickets for 2 of his friends at the last minute, and with both HantsAddick and another pal having to drop out, Fanny's table was able to accommodate all 3.
Tony's friends were delightful young men from just outside Glasgow and chatted happily throughout the meal. They have been friends with our striker since Infant school where Tony was in the school team from an early age. Tony was an amiable companion too but I wouldn't say he is as chatty or maybe confident as we would imagine.... He's looking to rent a property next season and will be bringing his 6 mnth old lab puppy with him. Bless !
I didn't get to meet all the players but as always, JJ never disappoints ( love him!) Rhoys, Chris Solly, Simon Church ( what a delightful young man!) , Morgan Fox etc - a credit to our Club. And although I didn't speak with him, Guy had a smile permanently on his face and his 2 young 'uns clearly love being with their Dad.
BDL and Peter were brilliant MCs as last year, the catering was good with more waiters/waitresses to serve us than usual and the wine flowed thanks to Marilyn and delroofer & his lovely wife. Del had made the very generous offer of sponsoring the 3 main trophies and was duly thanked for this great gesture. What a star ! We truly have some wonderful fans as well as players - long may it last.
And finally, another word about dear GlassHalfFull , mentioned earlier by Davo55. He is indeed the Lifer responsible for bringing several overseas fans into the fold by his generosity in finding items of memorabilia etc to fill the void. In the few months I have known him, his numerous" cunning plans" have increased apace and I'm certain that he has many more which will see the light of day before too long. Watch this space! Sadly, I wasn't able to spend time with him at the dinner as he was ensconced with his guests on another table but a slot in the programme was made for him to receive some flowers to mark his 60th Anniversary to the very day of his initiation into the Charlton family, courtesy of his guests & organised by Seth Plum. We arranged for Katrien to make this presentation to mirror the bouquet that Alan had sent to her after the "traingate" incident. I sincerely hope you enjoyed your evening, Alan & we'll continue the celebration soon - that's a promise.
So, another season is done & dusted although there is the U18's final at Brentford to draw it to, hopefully, a triumphant conclusion with details to be confirmed. It would be great to see a decent crowd of Addicks making the trip to cheer on the lads. And then, a lounger on the lawn, cucumber sandwiches, a Pimms in hand & time to reflect on the past 9 months and to start dreaming of what could be next term. Enjoy your summer and see you in August.

Last night passed in a blur. And to stand on the same stage as so many greats was an accolade beyond words. In that moment with Ms Katrien time truly stood still.
Football is a race with few pit stops. Every day is precious, so tomorrow we begin again. A quarter century ago the VP laid down a marker for today's generation - we are constrained by nothing more than ropes of sand, and together we can achieve the impossible.
So for the 4th Year running the EX Academy player wins again. Even thou i didn't vote for Jordan, (Hendo over Johann with Cousin's 3rd for me) The fact is, Jordan has done a great job for the team and now that he's in CM, will keep improving. Remember we don't vote for the best footballer at the club, it's called player of the season: Jordan is still a work in progress.
Am i the only person who find's it embarrassing when it's mentioned that someone won't smile. WTF Their footballers not Hollywood actors. Tony Watt is a showman on the field and a shy 21 year old off the field. when i had a quick word as he left crossbars the other week, I got a quick grin, a cheers mate, and a handshake after telling him thanks for bringing some excitement to the valley.
Great to hear Fanny's views on the evening and can only endorse what a great Job she and Killer Jerry Lee do in keeping the Spirit of our Football club at a high Level and hope that Katrien realizes the hard work that fans continue to do.
After hearing we're everyone favourite 2nd team in Dorset. let's hope their the last away Fans who ever leave the valley with a smile on their face. I, like others showed our class and gave Bournemouth applause, for their fantastic style of football which quite rightly ended up with the title. I want someone to do that for us one day (what go's around comes around ?)
