As I was last year, I will be at the Leigh Academy game at Bexley CC on the 3rd July. Thoroughly enjoyable day and great experience for the young players taking part.

I was merely highlighting Coles pretensions for an England call up ;-)

Does Jordan ever take a straightforward catch?

At 80-4 I sat down to watch the rest and a hopeful win. Apart from a couple of occasions we hadn't troubled them before I turned it over.

Moeen Ali being taken apart by the batsmen.

Bravo gone for 82, hit Stokes straight at cover fielder. Too little too late for England.

188-5. WI need 4 runs to win.

I think the Windies will smack it around and win having lost five wickets.

    I thank you.

Very disappointing defeat. Our batting in the Second Innings was terrible. There have got to be changes across the Board, not just in playing Personnel. Adil Rashid, Adam Lyth and Matt Wood were picked in the squad yet never used. What have we learnt about them? That they can carry a drink without spilling it. Major disappointments of the tour are Trott, Bell, Moeen, Stokes, Jordan( despite some fantastic catches) and Broad.
What we need is an appointment of the right man as the new Director of Cricket who is going to drive England forward. Not Andrew Strauss. I fear for us against New Zealand and Australia.
  • Just listened to Boycott's scathing asessment on the TMS Podcast.

Quite simply we lack imagination and the ability/personnel to make things happen, and that can be put down to the safety first instincts of Cook/Moores.

Anyone could see that Trott was woefully out of form, and that Adam Lyth deserved a go - it must be so dispirting for a young player not to be given a chance, especially when he is a specialist opener.

As for the attack - how on earth can Stokes and Jordan be on the same team - they are virtually identical cricketers - handy fourth seamers, who can score runs from 7/8/9. Play one, but not both.

Spinning wise, why not give Rashid a chance, playing in place of one of the above? What do we know about him now, that we didn't know at the start of the tour - absolutely nothing.

Finally it is so obvious that the fast bowling needs some fresh blood (given that Stokes and Jordan are not front line bowlers), so why not give Wood a go? Again why take these players if we are just going to do the same old thing every time?

Rubbish performance from England .. BUT .. as I have written before, I'm rather glad that the Windies have rediscovered the grit to compete in tests and that they have found a coach and team to compete against the best .. be interesting to see how they go against the Australians very soon .. lastly, the Windies have discovered a decent fast bowling attack and the latest Holder ? .. a super star in the manking

Agree, good to see some pride in the west Indies team. They discarded much of the old team (or the old team would rather play ipl) and replaced them with some up and comers. Australia did that and now look at them... We can't seem to do that. I'm not keen on chopping and changing for the sake of it, but seriously!
