Target 10K? Target 40K? What about Target One?

What about, for the remaining four home games, that as many as possible of the hard-core 15000 fans who either come as they are or dressed as an empty seat bring along at least one newcomer or lapsed oldie?

In recent weeks things have looked steadily brighter, with Lord knows enough still to engage horror fans as well. It's only a modest start, but even the greatest campaign has to begin somewhere.

We have a team that can do us proud on the pitch and, well, The Valley is The Valley and always a special place to come. Just one newbie - not asking too much, is it?

It's a great idea. I always ask my Arsenal supporting mates if they want to come along to matches because I know they can't get/afford a ticket to see their team play. Yes they aren't Charlton fans but the clubs gets £20 odd out of it, and despite being a neutral if they are from the area they undoubtedly would prefer to see a Charlton win than anything else.

The club could promote a reduced ticket price when bought alongside a season ticket (if they don't already do this). Then say you got someone along to the final 4 home games you'd get £25 off next years season ticket.

  • OK, then - four interesting fixtures ....

Reading - possibly still involved the Cup, in indifferent League form and maybe distracted

Fulham - London derby, revenge sought for heavy away defeat, a chance to to welcome/"welcome" Scott Parker

Leeds - always a special game

Bournemouth - high fliers, French connection, last match of a bumpy season

GL will NOT let this season fizzle out. He himself still has much to learn, some players need new contracts - this is already 2015/2016 pre-season.
  • A lot of fans not attending isn't at all related to the quality of football we're playing on the green stuff, it's down to the off field antics, the way the club is being run. I don't think we're the club to achieve high attendances barring well advertised super cheap tickets & a rise to the PL. The best attendances we will achieve is a club we all love to see on and off the pitch, League One title winning season had all the ingredients (for some impressive attendances at times, considering it's League One), a manager loved, a squad fully loved, the bond between fans & playing staff and the winning of course was the feel good factor.

This season is now dealt with in essence, barring Millwall away which is the big'un - interest will dwindle into the post-season transfer market. Of course people will still go but in terms of attracting new/old fans that haven't been of late, not much chance. All eyes on RD's transfer movements for most concerned.

  • All points well taken, AA, but in reality there is still much to play for - on and off the pitch. Besides, if we're all watching the Owner and waiting to react to his moves, maybe it would help if he could see that Charlton fans are also self-motivated. After all, we always have been. Attendance shouldn't be a chore but an event, and we've got four pukka events left.

    It's just a thought ....
  • so if all Season Ticket holders brought one person extra, that would be about 20k so you could save even more time by just still calling it Target 20k :)
