    Watch the Timbers every week - opened with a 0-0 against Salt Lake. Quite a feisty affair - just good to be watching football on a Saturday or Sunday at a decent hour!

    Not under the current structure. They may produce more players, but they will play overseas and Pele said that an African nation will win the world cup by 2000.

    For them to be a top 3 side in 5-10 years they would have to have some real superstars on the scene now - there aren't any.

    Garbage about the USMNT but I firmly believe MLS will become a bit of a powerhouse in the future, it won't become the best league in the world but I can see major players moving out there throughout their careers, as opposed to having an American swansong

    Just watched an incredible game:

    New York City 4-4 Toronto

    4 Penalties- 2 scored 2 missed and an own goal

    David Villa and Sebastian Giovinco looked so threatening every time they got the ball, both missed a penalty and scored 1

    Sebastian Giovinco got a 9 minute hat-trick and Villa finished with 2 but both could of had a couple more

    Bet David Villa can't wait to get Lampard and Pirlo delivering him balls

    Hernandez may be heading over to the U.S. soon. Gerrard is too. It could become a really good league.

    Hi All, I live in Vancouver and have been watching the Whitecaps since they joined MLS. Standard is getting better every year. Its interesting to see how some clubs go big to attract the designated player which generally is a forward or midfielder. It leads to teams having not the best defence as you could see with NYFC & TFC. Big city markets need big names but that comes with a cost of having an unbalanced team. Western Conference is stronger than the East. Seattle, Vancouver, LA, Portland, Kansas are all very strong. Whitecaps have gone down the route of picking up decent young South American players from Uruguay and Argentina. We have a beast of a defender in Kendall Waston at 6.5. The Cascadia cup games are a great watch between Seattle, Portland & Vancouver. Go to any of their games and you will be impressed with the support and atmosphere. I'm enjoying watching this more than the BPL. We got a little bit of Championship coverage on Bein sports last season and to be honest, was not impressed. Still a huge Charlton supporter but just don't see much of them now.

    Alvas Powell of Portland Timbers is a cracking young player - great attacking fullback with bags of energy and skill - he will go places for sure!

    I often think that the attacking play in the MLS is of a very good standard but the defenders and goalkeeping can be pretty poor which is why you get quite a lot of high scoring games.

    Odd when you consider how many good goalkeepers the USA national team have had over the years.

    I think 2 of the 30 or so designated players they have in the MLS who are paid way more than the average player are all attackers/midfielders and they basically put together cheap defenders to fill up the squad under the salary cap.
