This is a call for help and assistance please. For the first time in many years I may be able to get back to the UK to see the Blackburn game in March. It is so long since I visited the valley that changes will have happened so any advice please re decent pre match pint, time to queue for tickets and especially parking. I always used to park outside the houses at the top of Charlton Church lane but guess this is no longer possible?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and would be good to meet some CL members for real.

Bigger queue for tickets closer you get to kick off so get your tickets have your pint
# You may notice the lack of East Terrace and that we have added a roof to all stands, which is good as it keeps the rain off. Generally you are required to "siddarn!!" now in plastic red bucket seats. Plastic is a wide range of synthetic or semi-synthetic organic solids that are malleable and can be moulded for many purposes (Wikipedia), in this case to park your arse on.
# On the subject of food, they have also moved on. Although if you have been abroad for any length of time you will no doubt be cosmopolitan enough to appreciate the baffling array of tasty new fayre. However, if you are anticipating a spotty youth shouting "Peanuts!!!!" at the top of his young lungs, you will be in for a disappointment I am afraid. He would now be on some sort of 6th form media course at a pimped up former polytechnic, whilst dreaming of being a DJ. Freeze dried fair trade peanuts are available at the kiosks strategically located in the stands and there are ample instructions on how not to choke on them and how you should not die from an allergic reaction from eating them, courtesy of the London Borough of Greenwich Safety Team.
# You may of been used to climbing over or struggling under a pretty dilapidated excuse of a fence at the back of Lansdowne Mews to gain access to the ground. You will now unfortunately have to pay for a ticket in advance before being admitted to the ground (unless you are a closet Spanner of course...). It is a shame you are not in town for the Huddersfield home game which is a £5 game, a weekly wage I know in the old days but now even affordable if you are on benefits, so that is nice.
# Parking is an issue. Since the invention of the internal combustion engine and the exponential growth of road traffic in general, you will find the roads are way busier than when you last attended a home game. If you are looking for a tram stop, do not bother, they no longer exist. Greenwich Council will kindly hunt you down and kill you if you park in the many restricted areas around the ground so be careful.
# Due to these changes you will obviously be a tad disorientated but in true Charlton fashion the "family" club have thought of that. Generally the standard of football will be just as mundane and crap as at your last visit. I hope of course that on this occasion that is not the case.
Hope this has helped and enjoy your visit Addick.
Plus your parting comment, and that of Cardinal Sin comes as no surprise, was I expecting anything else?
Many thanks.
