SEE CAFC's GOALS AGAINST NORWICH HERE!

Can't believe we scored twice in the same match:

  • They both bounced out. I don't like the nets either.

    #nestle
  • advertising hoarding too close to the goal innit
  • Great little pass from Igor for the first. Hadn't realised that "live".
  • Lots of confusion initially in the upper North for Igor's goal. Didn't seem like it went in at first
  • That advertising board is well annoying. Nobody in the North realised it went in until Igor took off his armband celebrating.
  • Gawd could understand why there was doubt about that 2nd goal... that needs to be sorted else could count against us if the referee is an bigger idiot than the one last night
  • Needs fixing as we ain't hawkeye to save us from a bad ref with Stuart Atwell like eye sight
  • "We scored two goals,
    We scored two goals,
    How shit must you be,
    We scored two goals"
  • "Charlton say the advertising board behind the south stand goal was closer than Fifa allows last night & one of the balls/goals bounced back"

"All the boards will be the required distance for Saturday's game against Brentford and from now on"

  • 2nd Norwich goal is proper video nasty nightmare material, maybe the worst we'll concede all season
  • First goal - The two centre half's, FFS, throw your bodies on the line. Feeble closing down.

Second goal - Bikey 5 yards behind cos Jackson fucked up. Keeper should have stayed at home, although its hard to see where his starting position was from that video.

Third goal - TBH body shape on the cross is terrible. Bikey not tracking Jerome at all.

All three goals against are nasty, just about every bit of text book crap defending is on show, but at last we have scored a couple of proper goals involving some zippy, structured build up play and clean shots on goal. Arguably Harriott should have scored with his attempt, but we had players (plural!) actually moving in and around the box and bought ourselves a slice of luck.

We have to do something about the defending though. Hopefully Johnson for, probably, Bikey will help and maybe we need to look at putting Cousin centrally for his box-box energy and have Jacko just sitting in front of the back four. if he plays deeper his lack of pace would hopefully matter less as there will be less space to run into behind him and his leadership would not go a miss in there right now. We know he can defend a bit as he was originally signed on loan to play left back so in the absence of a proper holding midfielder and in the face of increasing evidence that he's not as able as he used to be to pop in goal scoring positions I'd suggest we let him focus his energy on patrolling in front of the back four and organising. Let Jordan and his nice shiny young legs do the majority of the running. Question is whether you try Bulot or Harriott on the left again or switch JoBerg and give Wilson another chance on the right. If his head is right Wilson's energy and commitment probably wouldn't hurt.
  • Our defending has been dreadful all season. So many sloppy goals conceded.
Great to see some neat link-up play between the front two. Yes, TWO, Mr Luzon. One up front doesn't work. TW looks quick, direct and determined. (But is it now too late?)
  • Just watched the highlights, the second goal looks even better when you can see the whole build up. JoBerg making a tackle (somewhat making up for the horrible shirking of challenging for a header in the build up to Norwich's second), nice layoff by Igor (although he nearly underhit it), nice touch by Cousins to take him around the tackle and into space, Harriott in off the wing and driving with pace at the Norwich back four, Watt out to the left wing to fill the space left by Harriott and then Harriott continuing his run into the box, unmarked, to fill the space left by Watt. Igor also in the right place at the right time having made sure he was up with the play after starting the move with his layoff. Good goal, best we've scored for ages.

The defending though, oh my days! Bradley Johnson could/should have had 4 all on his own.

You in training for John Motson's job when he retires?
