all things wrong

When I was growing up, Charlton Athletic were a club that many of the promotion chasing clubs aspired to be. The model club; shrewd negotiators in the transfer market, consistent performers under the stewardship of Alan Curbishley and an established Premier League club in their own right.

Fast forward 10 years, the club are at the epicentre of all things wrong with the English game. The Addicks are owned by a Belgian football conglomerate, who decided to relieve the man responsible for their resurgence, in favour with obscure names unfamiliar to the physical demands that The Championship poses.

Former Addicks legend and manager Chris Powell was replaced in favour of Jose Riga at the turn of 2014, the club have been in steady decline ever since. Charlton have recently appointed their third manager in that time in the shape of Guy Luzon, a coach who has spent the vast majority of his career in his native Israel.
The bulk of the squad is made up of foreign imports with minimal experience of English football. A club with similar indicators to that of Leeds United and both clubs are at the wrong end of The Championship table. Is it purely Coincidental? I`ll let you be the judge of that.
