Judging by the way we usually stuff up on these occasions the only repeating going on will be people walking out going "well I ain't going back there!"
I don't doubt that the success in pretty much selling out will provide enough ammunition to keep some people on their negativity for ages.
Let me start with:
ticket sales on Thursday afternoon parking ticket collection queues at turnstiles crossbars music volume (either extreme) food beverage some Charlton fan calling you a knob because you cheer every time Powell moves exit plans trains parking
This of course only refers to those who haven't burnt their season ticket yet.
A full stadium will be great to see. Does anyone know (@Airman Brown?) if this has a positive financial impact overall, or only if it results in significant levels of repeat business, i.e. some of them start coming regularly?
A full stadium would generate acceptable ticket receipts and significantly increased refreshment sales (although whether this still benefits the club we don't know). You can do the maths - there are 23,700 seats in home areas, although in practice some are linked to hospitality, some are for disabled people and some are associated with the boxes, so they can't all easily be sold. There are always a core 6-700 comps, a number that can't be reduced, so say 13,000 sales at £5 would generate £54k (net of VAT). Bear in mind, though, there is likely to be an additional marketing cost, so £50k is reasonable. Maybe less.
Given this is a special occasion, because of Powell, I think you would have to look at 3,000 home sales for comparison purposes. Say £15 average net revenue per ticket would generate £45k, so potentially there is a small benefit.
Programmes sales are largely unaffected and retail is outsourced, so not much of a factor there.
Against that the away receipts are likely to be down, even though you'll get more Huddersfield than at standard prices. Away tickets also generate a higher average revenue (higher prices, fewer concessions), so for example 750 x £18 net = £13,500 but 1,500 x £4.17 net = £6,250.
It follows that 1) you need to sell the Jimmy Seed Stand (even with the stewarding cost) and 2) if you've given away lots of extra comps in home stands to ensure a good gate you won't make a profit. I don't know if either are happening on Saturday. The club will be cagey about the Jimmy Seed Stand.
As you suggest the real benefit is in introducing or reintroducing people. Most do not come back, but that has always been understood. It's also the obvious occasion to launch season ticket marketing for next season (as KM appeared to imply would happen).

I think Airman has said previously, that we need a crowd of about 22,000ish to break even. So we'll likely make a profit.

Over 25000 tickets sold but it's a nightmere .... People arriving lateyou't find their seats or then sitting in the wrong seat ?? Then up and down through the match for what ever reason ....... Great idea and the club should be pleased with the response but please can't we put them all in one area then they can do what want without pissing of the proper supporters
So i take it Colin you class yourself as a proper supporter and I am not worthy of being in the same section as you? Think ur up ur own arse a bit there don't you

I love to see the ground full but, for once, I agree with 1961 as some are a pain. Game kicks off, two mins later four people want to get in your row, stand up, sit down, 30 seconds they are back, wrong row, maybe even wrong block, stand up, sit down, five mins later and two late people want to get in the row, stand up, sit down, five mins later one of them decides they want a pee, stand up, sit down, five mins later he is back, stand up, sit down, ten before half time they are off for a pint and a burger, stand up, sit down. half time, a breather. five mins after restart they are back having guzzled two pints and a burger, so stand up, sit down, ten minutes later they both need a pee, weak bladders, stand up sit down, then they are back, stand up, sit down. watch game, ten minutes to go and they are off, stand up, sit down. it's bloody exhausting.

No sympathy at all, you know that the game has been coming for a while so plenty of time to have got yourself in shape Large. Anyway you should be used to it with all the 'A' blockers that you tell us invade the dearer parts of the East Stand every home game .
At least the " A Blockers" can see what a view you get from the A Block.
At least we can feel we're back in the Prem.(until the game starts)
At least we getting a crowd that is 3 times bigger than the spanners on Wednesday.
At least we can meet new people and old muckers we haven't seen for a while.
At least we will know for sure that the new caterers can't cope if there's more than 7 people in a Queue.
At least some CL can moan all next week about the newbies.
At least IF IF IF we play decent football some of the younger people will want to come back and bring mates/dads/uncles/mums/aunts/cousins and anyone they can think of.
At least i'm done for now.
I love you all. (Mainly the females of our parish)
It would be nice if some of these football for a fiver merchants came to the other games as well. Nearly every time this happens i have to move someone out of my seat that i have sat in for the last 20 years. And before you say some cant afford it, i agree but many can.
All new supporters are welcome....... But there the ones who let the fiver a match became a hassle for everyone around them ..... not hard to get there 15 mins before KO and read simple instructions like Row and Seat number on a ticket
We have even in the past had people the wrong stand !!! Work that out
