Dear Diary........

I'm so frustrated at the moment with the way Charlton Athletic is being run, I know you've all seen this everywhere else on here recently but I feel like I need to vent, if it gets closed then fine but at least I've said my bit...

Ok, I could see why CP was sacked if it was solely for Footballing reasons, but it wasn't, I could even understand why Kermorgant was sold (over 30, wanted more money, decent offer, injuries etc) if he was replaced properly, but he wasn't & still hasn't been.

I can't support this idea of a network of clubs, it isn't working for us & I don't get why RD doesn't get that either, if he's a businessman, surely he wants to make money, us getting relegated into L1 won't make him money.

I'm 35, I've seen some utter rubbish at The Valley/Selhurst in the past but I've always gone but I'm not going tonight & if truth be told, I've fallen out of love with CAFC. Well, this version of CAFC anyway.

If RD was sensible he would see us as his way into the big money, gets us promoted & he's guaranteed £60 million even if he finish bottom on 0 points & that's before any ticket, corporate stuff - if we finished 17th in the PL, it's more & back to back seasons would make over £100 million, which dwarfs anything Liege or any of the clubs could ever generate.

Don't get me wrong, RD has done some good things, the pitch, the training ground, the spruce up of The Valley but I just see him doing worse to Charlton while we continue in this current way.

The whole attitude from KM that the fans aren't important or that this is the owners way doesn't sit well with me, it stinks to be perfectly honest.

I've never felt this low about Charlton, never once have I decided to not go to games, but I feel like I've been pushed into this position by the owner - call it a personal boycott if you wish but it's how I feel - won't renew my ST next season either.

As I said at the start, you've all seen this a hundred times lately & I'm sorry for adding to that list but I just want a normal football club again!

I miss reading that people were bored of 14th in the Premier League, that seems like a lifetime ago now & in my opinion, the mismanagement of Charlton Athletic Football Club is an absolute scandal - I applaud those of you who are joining the trust & going to the meeting, but while RD/KM refuse to acknowledge it, it all seems pretty pointless.

I could go on but I'd end up banned!

I await the abuse/closure of this in due course, but cheers for reading!

  • All valid points. It does read like a lot of the other threads on this subject, but this forum is there exactly to offer you a chance to voice your opinion. People might disagree with what you say, but it wouldn't warrant abuse IMO.

It is a shame you aren't going tonight. I'm not at the stage yet where I wouldn't want to go to a home game. I'm not sure what it would take to stop me going to a game I have a ticket for, not been pushed that far yet.

You should definitely try and go the meeting next week if this is how you feel. It is being organised for this very reason

NSU my 15 year old son said to me last night, Dad why do we have to go and watch that rubbish tomorrow night ,can't we stay in the warm and watch some telly or a film. for a moment he did make me stop and question my sanity, watching Charlton at the moment is too predictable , prove me wrong tonight Charlton, and get some decent loans in Roland, for goodness sake you're boring the pants off of us, give us a reason to turn up rather than taking us all for granted.
  • I hear what you are saying, but maybe consider changing your user name.

    Not very "Ultra", is it.
  • Don't get the "this will be closed and I'll be banned" stuff.

Otherwise I agree with a lot of it but I'm there tonight.

That's not a sign of approval for the network or RD but going to games is what I do.

I was at that stage around the Brighton game, I've moved to where I am now since then, wish I had the motivation to just go but I can't put myself through it

My 14 year old said pretty much the same thing. Told him he can take a friend along so happy enough about going but it isn't Charlton drawing him in. As I type this, I find I am not excited at all about tonight - I know what to expect and I know the chances of anything different to that happening are remote. It just is depressing, but I go out of a sense of duty. But if I sense the players aren't giving their all, what is left? That might be it for me in terms of renewing my season ticket next season, if the owner continues to treat us fans with the contempt he has done of late.
