His last day reporting today at The Valley.
Have never met him, but wrote to him asking him to do a foreward for a programme I was organising for Blackheath rugby about 5 years ago. Got an instant email back and he couldn't have been more generous with his time.
A total defender of Charlton through the bad days and good (remember them!).
Hope someone leaves a Guinness at the press gantry for him from me, a great writer and hope he enjoys his retirement.
Proper Charlton.

Don't always agree with him although I mainly do but a GREAT journalist and I'll miss him.
Happy retirement Patrick .
Enjoy today, Patrick and then some well deserved R & R.

A good shit!
Where does he live? Perhaps he could add some part time help to our Comms team.
Or at least a regular page in the program.
Happy retirement Mr C, though I suspect that like Frank Sinatra, Arnie S and Terry Wogan, .. you'll be back from time to time.
I will miss the humour.

He's right though supporting Charlton is a labour of love, like working on a beautiful old sports car that promises so much and sets off productively only to splutter and falter round the corner in front of everyone. For no apparent reason. When it's going it's fantastic and it goes like a rocket, but at the back of your mind you're always wondering if the back wheels are really on tight. That's Charlton for you, the human predicament, one minute we seem like Gods, the next we're an embarrassment to Nature, but such is life eh.
Live love laugh and be happy, as good a simple philosophy as you are likely to get. ( that said things here at the club do seem pretty terrible at the moment imo)
COYR!
