  • Highest we have been at this point since 2008, which incidentally was slap bang in the middle of a slippery slope from 2004, which Coincided with the selling of Parker, so it's all his fault the barsteward

4 ups and 9 downs in the last 13 years :-(
  • Would it take long to complete Thai by showing whether we ended the season higher or lower from the start of the year point ?
  • Interesting reading this as it gives some perspective. This "up" feels a bit like a "down" at the moment. Interesting times ahead.
  • Odd that, aside from 2014 and 2006, we seem to do well in the even years.
    Next year lads,next year.

  • So only finished higher four times since 96. We really are poor for the second half of the season on the whole!

This will give the doom and gloomers something to chew on.

Five times. 1997, 2000, 2001, 2013, 2014. A good omen that four of five have come in the second tier & two have been the last two seasons?
  • So halfway through the 96/97 season, we were 18th and finished the season in 15th?
These days, Curbs would probably have lost his job based on that.
    Good thing we kept him.

  • It makes for interesting reading but then since 2004 every January transfer window has either seen the squad been weakened by selling off a key player (Parker, Murphy, Reid, Kermogant, Stephens etc) or we've just not signed anybody. Last year was probably the one January window where we did bring in a significant number of players whom AA aside didn't strengthen the side.

I get a different feeling about the upcoming January window though I can't see Vetokele or JBG being sold off and it looks like we'll actually recruit players (hopefully) to who will actually strengthen the side.

When you look back at the summer signings the majority have been a hit, one or two the jury is still out on but essentially I don't think we signed any flops last summer. If we are able to carry that success rate forward into this January window we should have a stronger squad come February 1st able to push on and finish in the top half somewhere. I still woudn't even rule out a play-off push yet if we can sign a goalscorer early on in the window (Watt?)
  • Cheers Thai
