Ambrose, Thatcher, Herman and Romm

11pm on Sunday and just got back from the weekend in London. Still feeling down about yesterday. Fans and most of team tried hard, but in the end we just didn't look good enough. A few specific points:

Ambrose - why does he not get more stick? He was appalling from start to finish yesterday. One good match a season is not enough.
Thatcher - Looked unfit/ leaden-footed from the start. Worrying that we are in a desperate situation of playing players who are carrying knocks, and consequently become liabilities. Thomas could/should have done more to support, but Pards should have subbed him much earlier.
Herman - complete headcase when he came on, went for same ball as JFH twice, going down pole-axed when not injured, getting unnecessarily booked for dissent, wasting our time and preventing us from building up any momentum. Pressure of yet another relegation looming has got to him.
Romm - once again I despair that he's the easy scapegoat for the moaners - I wish they'd watch the game! He had an excellent first half, at the root of all our creativity, putting in decent crosses as well as winning three tackles and several headers. Took the ball full in the face when he charged down a Sheff U free kick on edge of the area. OK, he wasn't as effective in second half, but only because they put two/ three on him all the time, as they'd worked out that they didn't need to worry about Thomas and Ambrose by then.

And I won't comment about Wiley, coz I'd get done for bringing the game into disrepute...those who sit near me know what I think of him!!

  • I agree with most of that.

Romm and Ambrose are both frustrating as they have a lot of ability yet so rarely produce any worthwhile end product.

Thomas wasn't great yesterday yet even when playing badly he is an outlet and wins us free kicks. Did you see the way he brought that ball down near the players tunnel in the second half?

Regarding your point about stick it seems to be the players that don't hide who get the stick. Kish, Faye, I even heard a few around me moaning about Zheng Zhi yesterday who arguably for me was our man of the match the other contenders being Scotty for that save from Gillespie and El Kak.

Maybe fans are more tolerant towards the perceived creative players.
  • People were moaning about Zheng? What the hell for? He was popping up everywhere for us yesterday.

Faye doesn't hide - he just sucks big style. Half the reason we are where we are now is due to his near ever present berth in midfield until Pards sussed him out for the one paced, half arsed no-hoper he is. I remember Jensen getting shed loads of abuse for not getting "stuck in" BTW.
  • The reason why we are struggling still is that in spite of some excellent management we are still threadbare in some parts of the squad - central midfield and up front, take away the recent loaness, and we would be dead and buried by now.
  • "he just sucks big style."

Oakster you have been in Canada too long mate ...........
  • Agree with all that Weegie.

All I can say is: SuperKev now is your time .... save us!
