Gary Doherty

Has been forced to retire at the age of 34.

Didn't work out for him at CAFC sadly.

Can't believe he is only 34!

Wasn't a huge fan of his, but good luck to him with whatever he does next.

Good luck to the Ginger Pele.

Not the most technically gifted player we ever saw at WHL but he always gave 100% out on the pitch.

Blimey, had no idea he was that young. I thought he was about 36 when he was playing for us, he had the gait of a man three times his age!

Effort and attitude couldn't be faulted, good luck Gary.

I've never been so speechless since the time I found out he was 6 months younger than me.

He turned slower than milk. Good luck to him though.

Wouldn't say it didn't work out completely. He did OK for a while.

  • Felt like he was around forever, would have put him more @ 38 than 34
  • He had a pretty decent career really, over 200 games for Norwich

A trier who (sometimes) got there eventually .. good luck in the future to a player who wasn't as bad as many have portrayed and yes, he was a bit of a scapegoat

Or in the game v Spurs when George Graham played him as a striker when we were 2 nil up (I think?!?)

  • 450 professional games and 33 international appearances. Proper rubbish.

At least he got to play for the mighty Charlton Athletic, unfortunately the rest of his career is but a side show before the main event.

100% sure. Say what you like about Doherty's lack of pace etc but in the air he was excellent. Bikey is very hit and miss in that regard. He struggles to time his jumps and often doesn't get off the ground at all. Shame because when he gets it right it looks good.

Retired. As has Christian Dailly. So no point yearning for those classic days of yore when we had a rock-like mobile defence.

That's just a sarcastic insult to old retired footballers. Shame.
