  • Pope - 0 - disgrace, all 3 points lost by this flapping individual
Gomez - 7 - faded but looked real class through earlier stages, will be immense
Fox - 4 - not and never will be good enough, slow and unimaginative
Bikey - 7 - if only the chance had fallen to someone else. Still good and gutted at the end
Ben haim - 8 - solid and drove forward, a class player - mom
Gudmondsson - 6 - nothing bad or good
Solly - 7 - done well out of position
    Buyers - 6.5 - faded but solid
Cosins - 7.5 - ironically much better when he drifted out left, great finish
    Harriet - 5 - can't remember
Vetekole - 5 - awful first touch, clearly lacking any confidence
  • edited December 2014
Pope - 5 at fault for the first and trying to cover Davies who is unmarked for a freebie.
Gomez - 6 why did he start?
Fox - 5 some wayward passing.
Bikey - 6 last minute chance for shot on goal and pumps it over the bar.
Ben Haim - 7 solid as usual.
Gudmundsson - 7 plenty of energy and great pass for the penalty.
Solly - 6 why was he playing out of position?
Buyens - 7 solid in midfield and well taken penalty.
Cousins - 7 Extra point for the goal.
Harriott - 6 once again too many flicks and tricks that failed.
Vetokele - 6 not getting much luck lately.

Which is, of course, so different to what CP has been doing the last 2 season?

  • I will try to keep my emotions in check, and Mark LOGICALLY in my view...

Pope - 5 At fault for the first, yes. How many of you remember the cracking save from the free kick he made prior to that? As for the 2nd: 1) stupid free kick given away by TBH, which was unnecessary, and unlike him 2) The ball travelled 70-80 yards, and not ONE defender attacked the ball? 3) Who's job was it to mark the scorer?

Gomez - 8 On his first half showing, would probably have scored at least a 9. At times, it looked like he was taking on the entire Blackpool team single handedly. Great control, pace, power, kills the ball stone dead, and how nice to see a fall back winning EVERYTHING in the air. Tired in the 2nd half, but still hasn't played many games since coming back from injury. A future England international, but, alas, not with us, I think.

Fox - 6 Again did his job defensively very well. Hit the pass of the game in the first half to Gudmonnson. Not as good going forward , but his confidence is probably shot from the pelters he gets from the crowd. Those asking why is he playing, as Rhoys is injured, who do you think should start in his place?

Bikey - 7 Still pretty good, but his mad 5 minutes coincided with him having an open goal gaping at 8 yards out.

Ben Haim - 7.5 I have marked him down half a point as it was his rash tackle that gifted Blackpool their equalizer.

Gudmundsson - 8 MOTM for me. Playing in the hole behind the strikers looks to be his best position. All over the park, always looking to be involved. He also seems fitter, and better able to deal with the rigours of English football. For those that marked him poorly, aren't TWO assists enough for you? It was his cross that lead to the penalty, and his buzzing run and pass that picked out Cousins for the 2nd.

Solly - 5 Rose tinted specs removed, probably the worst player in a Charlton shirt. Yes, being played out of position, but how many tackles did he make? How many telling passes? People have criticised Buyens for passing backward, but Solly was the master yesterday. Also, I could forgive that, if he was putting in a captain's performance, but he is not vocal enough, of forceful enough to do it. Like Rufus, good player , crap captain. On that performance, the Alistair Cook of Charlton F.C.

Buyens - 7.5 Did what Yoni does. I can't remember any badly hit passes. (There were almost certainly some.) Doesn't charge around like a maniac in the first 20 minutes anymore, thus ensuring he can give us the full 90. Another cracking penalty.

Cousins - 7.5 Vieing for MOTM. Great energy, sometimes looks like there's 2 of them on the pitch. Good goal, lovely pass into the corner of the net.

Harriott - 6 Wasn't his day, but somewhat spoilt by his continued poor decision making. A big plus for me is his willingness to shoot, in an increasingly shot shy team. As the old saying goes: "100% of all shots not taken aren't scored"

Vetokele - 6 Probably his worst game in a Charlton shirt. Four times he tried to spin his defender, and failed to take the ball with him. Still won us the penalty, though. Makes a nuisance of himself all the time, and is getting no protection from officials. Still heavily in credit with me.

Pope - 4.5 Had four things to do and did two of them.
Gomez - 6 Steady enough and has the ball skills. Was asked to provide the width in yesterday's daft formation but struggled to penetrate.
Fox - 6 He's got a decent touch but is slow to see the chance to bomb forward on the overlap. Didn't have to do much defending.
Bikey - 5.5 He's very inconsistent in the air and should've been booked for the chop in the 1st half. Did some good blocks bit generally looked a mess.
Ben Haim - 8 Masterclass until that daft lunge for their late free-kick. Won his headers, bailed the team out twice with brilliantly timed tackles and showed superb technique.
Gudmundsson - 5 This was his big chance to shine behind the front men but in the 1st half he couldn't be bothered.
Solly - 6 Plenty of effort and helped keep the ball.
Buyens - 7 Lots of effort and looked classy again. Shame he hasn't got open play goals in his locker.
Cousins - 6.5 Given the freedom of The Valley to shoot but took his goal superbly.
Harriott - 6 Poor first half and better 2nd.
Vetokele - 4.5 Tried hard enough and had one decent shot from outside the box but struggled to control the ball.
  • Pope 4 Two good saves, two blunders that cost the goals
Gomez 7 Started brilliantly, faded in the second half
Fox 5 Wish he could beat the first man with a cross
Bikey 7 Is a great defender, clearly not a striker
    Ben Haim 8 Solid
    Gudmundsson 5 Disappointing today
Solly 5 Looked like a 'fish out of water' in midfield
    Buyens 8 MoM
    Cousins 7 Good goal
Harriott 5 I genuinely thought today he would come good, he didn't
Vetokele 5 Looks absolutely lost without help up front

Tucudean n/a Contibuted nothing, but rarely got fed the ball
Bob Peeters Needs to be reminded we are allowed three substitutes.
  • Pope - 5 mistake for the first goal.
Gomez - 6 played reasonably well.
Fox - 5 so deliberate with his passing and crossing that the defender could easily block any attempts.
Bikey - 7 even with the absolute howler of a miss still had a good game.
Ben Haim - 6 at fault for the second goal by not marking the player who scored. more his fault than pope.
Gudmundsson - 3 not sure he did anything.
Solly - 7 in a position unfamiliar to him yet proved dogged and broke up a lot of their play.
Buyens - 7 played some good passing to get us moving.
Cousins - 7 good goal and was involved throughout the match.
    Harriott - 5 poor display
Vetokele - 5 poor today. nothing he did seem to work out.

    Tucudean - footballer??!! you sure??!!
  • Pope 5 at fault for both goals imo. Made his mind up to go for the 2nd before it was played. Schoolboy error I'm afraid
Gomez 8 looked noticeably stronger upper body, so strong, good touch, tidy passer. Will go far
Fox 5 nowhere near as bad a some making out. He's a no frills full back but needs to improve offensive side to his game
Bikey 6 colossus at the back, leaburn up front
Ben Haim 8 I thought he won The board for the freekick led to the second. Aside from that excellent
Gudmundsson 6.5 frustrating for me because he is technically such a superb player he just doesn't take the game by the scruff of the neck and dominate like I think he could.
Solly 6 probably a lift into that position because Coquelin was not there not good not bad just meh
Buyens 7 too many backwards passing without even looking. There were times when he had time to turn and move forward with the ball but opted for a simple square or backward pass
Cousins 8 my man of the match again. A lovely goal and some goodd tackling and energy
Harriott 4 pants. Nothing worked for him. Needs to stop believing his own hype. Every time a manager praises him he then goes out and has an absolute shocker. I am bored of him.
Vetokele 5 we all agree Igor needs a partner. Callum is not that partner he is as much use as tits on a fish. Igor is starting to look frustrated and we definitely need to get a big man beside him.

Note to Bob - we need to take more chances we need to attack. Yes it's nice to have possession of the ball but Blackpool had two maybe three chances to score twice yesterday a complete smash and grab.
The boos are not at you or the team but more frustration of us not killing off what I think was frankly the worst team to come to the valley for a good couple of years.

Pope 4.5 - The curse of the programme pic strikes again! At fault for both goals; poor distribution, etc etc...
Gomez 7 - Solid game and got forward well; shame some of his crosses were not so good.
Fox 6.5 - Did OK and ventured further forward as the game went on
Bikey 6 - Not at his best throughout and that miss....oh no111
Ben Haim 7.5 - Good game, and used the ball very well
Gudmundsson 5 - Poor all day; lacking an edge at the moment for some reason
Solly 5 - Low mark not for his basic performance, but why on earth he played in midfield at all? Seemed utterly lost at times...
Buyens 7.5 (MoM) - Always involved; drove the team forwards at each opportunity.
Cousins 7 - Average first half but great second period. Lovely shot placement for his goal.
Harriott 6.5 - Made some great runs without the ball and some poor ones with it; shoot on sight policy didn't always work out for the best.
Vetokele 4.5 - Very poor; no control, looked disinterested at times.

At last someone has the balls to mention Gomez's crossing (or lack of ability/confidence in forward positions). In the final third he was as clueless as Fox yet everyone can't wait to hurl abuse in his direction
  • Can someone tell me what Henderson would have done for the second when their (offside) sub was unmarked on the six yard line?
  • Felt depressed after yesterday ,2 points dropped but we are still only 5 points off the play offs and we are 12 clear of the relegation places . That is where I'd like us to be going into the second half of the season as we could come through under the radar . Please Bob and Roland refresh the squad a bit in January so we could challenge this season.

What has happened to Brighton and Wigan this season or to Orient in League One demonstrates that you need to take your chances when they are available .

Pope 5 I like Nick and feel on balance he is still in credit . Keepers need games but I hope Hendo is back soon . Etheridge has played less first class games than Pope so he would also be a gamble.
Gomez 7 Defensively sound and had an outstanding first half.
Fox 6 I don't get why he gets extreme criticism on here . He had a sound game .I know he can be effective going forward from his time in the Youth team / U21's .Time well tell if he can replicate these aspects at this level. Lets get behind him because after all he is one of our own.
Bikey 5 Below avaerage today I am afraid .Thought he looked shakey during the game and it was an appalling miss which brings his mark down .
Ben Haim 8 He gets better and better in my view ,unlucky with the free kick.
Gudmundsson 6 Seems a bit hit and miss . promises more than he delivers in my view
Solly 6 Didn't do badly but clearly out of position
Buyens 7 Neat and tidy and I like the way he dispatches spot kicks
Cousins 7 Very well taken goal
Harriott 6 Not as effective up top as last week . He is inconsistent.
Vetokele 5 Has he been found out now? We need him to get back to his early season form.

Pope - 1. No better than a Sunday league keeper. Etheridge must replace him.
Gomez - 7. V.promising. Can't cross though so bein played out of position didnt help him.
Ben Haim - 8. Our most creative player which says a lot when he's a CB!
Bikey - 5. Love the guy but he looked v.shakey & knows he missed a sitter.
Fox - 3. Isn't gd enough. We have loaned out the wrong left back. Can we not give Fox to Oxford?!
Buyens - 7. Kept the ball moving well.
Gudmundson - 6. Gd player but another played out of position for large parts of the game.
Solly - 7 Did well as he's a class act but another player played out of position
Cousins - 7. Gd goal. Played out of position for large parts of the game. He will never supply the crosses we need from a winger. Needs to play CM.
Harriott - 5. Tried hard but played out of postion. He's a winger
Vetokele - 5. Poor first half & hold up play in general. Repeat of his poor showing vs Ipswich

Peters - 3. Got it all wrong with the formation today. Please just play people in their actual positions!

Pope - 3 (my view was that both goals were his fault - not seen replays)
    Gomez - 7
    Ben Haim - 7
    Bikey - 5.5
    Fox - 6
    Gundmundsson - 6
    Solly - 6.5
    Buyens - 7
    Cousins - 7.5
    Harriott - 5.5
Vetokele - 4 (contributed very little, lost the ball over and over when asked to hold it up)
  • Pope 6
    Gomez 7.5
    Fox 7.5
    Bikey 6.0
    Ben Haim 7.5
    Gudmundsson 6
    Solly 7.5
    Buyens 6.5
    Cousins 8
    Harriott 6.0
    Vetokele 7
  • Pope 4 - loses two marks for being at fault for both goals but did make a great save from a 1st half free kick
Gomez 7 - couldn't work out where he was playing until he was moved to right back
Fox 5 - think every single attempted cross was blocked, lack of confidence to try and beat the man first?
Bikey 6 - loses a mark for missing that sitter
    Ben Haim 7 - solid
Gudmundsson 6 - pinged a few nice passes in but couldn't work out where he was meant to be playing
Solly 7 - worked hard and won tackles but couldn't work out where he was meant to be playing
Buyens 8.5 MOM - gets an extra 0.5 for tucking the penalty away, kept play moving and keeps it simple. Class.
Cousins 8 - an extra mark for his well hit goal which you could see was going in the moment it left his boot.
Harriott 6 - was he playing on the left or the right? just wish he'd keep it simple at times
Vetokele 6 - control let him down but again starved of service

    Tucudean n/a

From the midfield upwards the only players who I could work out where they were playing were Buyens and Vetokele the rest were all over the place, completely unorganised. Slightly better 2nd half but the last time I saw such an unorganised midfield was in the Pardew era though to be fair to Bob you can't pin the goals conceded on him they were both down to Pope.

  • Pope - 4: poor mistakes for both goals, although he was left horribly exposed for the second; that said, he should have stayed back and concentrated on saving the header. A shame after three very good performances and I still believe he will be a good goalkeeper for us.
Gomez - 7: a very assured and athletic performance.
Fox - 5: he lacks confidence in possession and his level tends to dip in the second half.
Bikey - 5: he looked shaky today for the first time.
Ben Haim - 8: held us together at the back and moved the ball very well.
Gudmundsson - 5: a disappointing performance for a guy of his quality. Too easily knocked off the ball whilst playing in 'the hole'. Needs to get back out wide where he has space to work.
Solly - 7: did well in an unfamiliar position. I had expected him to play wide on the right but he seemed to assume a Jacko-type role at times in terms of breaking things up and keeping the ball moving.
Buyens - 7.5: a high quality performance. He spread the play in an attempt to stretch Blackpool.
Cousins - 6.5: not always that careful with the ball but great dynamism and work rate and a really fine strike.
Harriott - 5: like Igor, made no impact, although the service was poor.
Vetokele -5: is he still struggling with calf and achilles injuries ? He looks like a man tired of being repeatedly buffeted by central defenders.
  • Pope 5, he was at fault for the second goal, also did not take to many crosses, seemed hesistant.
    Gomez 7 mom
Fox 5, at best, he does not seem able to cross the ball and caught to often dawdling on the ball.
Bikey 6, not his best game
Ben Haim 6 passing was suspect.
    Gudmundsson 5, did very little.
Solly 6 had ok game out of posistion.
    Buyens 6 ok.
Cousins 7 better when in middle of the pitch.
Harriott 6 not bad for him.
Vetokele 5 seems off the pace of the game.
Points may seem low to others but we have to remeber the team we played on Saturday, they are not great.
