Whatever happens now

edited April 2007 in General Charlton
I'm grateful to have seen a few years top level football at The Valley.

Pardew has worked a miracle to give us a slight chance.

I normally try to be positive but my head says our Premiership status ended today.

I've already renewed though and I'll watch us against Barnsley etc next season.

  • And unfortunately Adrian Chiles and his " it's the hope that will kill you" is starting to ring true.
  • I think it is the hope of the players that is killing us - when we get out of the bottom 3 hope sets in and focus is lost

when a gazelle is being chased by a tiger it doesn't have time to hope .... it just runs!
  • We are also dependent on what happens to other teams that makes for added pressure. We will beat Blackburn, Spurs, draw at Liverpool, Wigan and Fulham will lose their last three games and WHU will also survive.... odds anyone?
  • Was at a 60th Birthday Party last night and there were quite a few long standing supporters in attendance and not one of them, including me, thought we'd get out of this now.
  • I normally try to be positive but my head says our Premiership status ended today.

It isn't over yet, there are three games and nine points left to fight for.
  • Was and am very down after yesterday.

My logical, rational brain says "down" but a little voice maybe in my head maybe in my heart says there is still a chance and where there is hope there is life.

C'mon Charlton. To Pardew and all the players and fans I say:

Do not go gently in that good night
Burn and rave at the close of day
Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Unfortunately we have got we deserved over the last 3-4 games. We seem to have run out of ideas and our legs seem to have gone. Our midfield is just not strong enough to compete with most other Premiership teams and we look poor up front. Ambrose, Thomas & Romm are far too lightweight and D.Bent is clearly not fit and is struggling to make any impact at all.

I just canot see how we are going to turn it round at this stage of the season. Blackburn and Spurs are two good Premiership teams; Sheff Utd were a poor Premiership team and we really struggled against them. Unfortunately I can already hear the fat lady clearing her throat!!
  • Keep the faith! Foolham, Westham and Watford are going down.
  • If the worst happens lets make Blackburn a celebration of our time in the Premiership. It was a fantastic achievement and deserves 90 mintues of chantings and singing. Perhaps we could even chant Curbishley's name?!
  • Agree that it should be a celebration, but don't think chanting for Curbs would be a good idea really. Might be taken as a slap in the face for Pards, even if it wasn't meant as such.

  • What I want to know is, is Lisbie fit? I'm serious! If so stick him in from the start next to Bent, its time he showed us what he can do..
  • I agree Razil, we need two up front and JFH is not fit enough so why not give Lisbie a go? He can't do worse than Marcus or JFH.
