Harriott Shows Improvement

  • I thought that for most of the game he looked like the stand out player to be subbed. Except that subbing a sub is the surest way to make their confidence nosedive.
  • He has undoubted skill but his decision making is appalling at times.
  • He is utter cack and loses possession so carelessly. A downward path for him like Kyel Reid and JCR before him.
  • He absolutely melted from that tackle just before HT

Your right , he totally jumped out of the tackle in front of the east stand . I was livid . Nearly lead to a Millwall goal.
  • Jamal Campbell Ryce/Lloyd Sam.... Callum Harriott. Same rubbish different day.
  • He absolutely melted from that tackle just before HT

    Yup that was pathetic
  • I can't understand how he loses the ball then stands there arguing Instead of running back like a nutter to win it back too much of a prima Donna for my liking
  • I thought he looked our likeliest player to create a breakthrough today and in general offers us something different to our other attacking options. Yes he's frustrating, but he causes problems, a useful wild card to bring off the bench or start in the right situation.

  • I thought he was a threat in the final third today , which is where he can do some damage
He was prepared to run at the scum today , make a few gambles (admittedly they didn't all come off) and put the ball in the mixer and I thought it was a decent performance attacking wise from him
Better than the crab like stuff we get from Cousins who offers zero as a threat going forward for us but who obviously has much much better defensive attributes
And he forced a decent enough save from Forde and there wasn't too many of them to be made today
  • For every good thing he does you generally get two bad things in return.

At least twice today he gave the ball away and Millwall broke on us and his reaction was to stand and moan at the player who he'd tried to find with a nonsense pass. No interest in chasing back.

He just has no football brain whatsoever.

This....he has no football brain at all, most of his work is mindless running around
Would normally agree with this but totally disagree about his performance v Millwall. Put in a couple of good crosses and two excellent through balls and showed some class control. Has really improved his decision making, that has been suspect ever since he got in the side. Was actually more of a threat than Gudmundsson, whose crossing was poor. And it was Harriot who set up our only decent chance.
  • Winger is inconsistant shock
  • I think the debate was over whether he was showing improvement.
  • He's only getting game time because we don't have anyone else that can play alongside Igor. He has the pace, skill and he tries but I dont think he's ever going to nail down a regular place in the team at championship level for Charlton or wherever he ends up going which I suspect in a year or so will be to league one.
  • I thought Callum put in a decent attacking performance. He looked to me the most likely to get us the goal. His defending work isn't great, but he's a winger not a defender.
I actually thought he did enough to warrant a start against Ipswich.
  • He had a good game yesterday, people moaning see a poor one two with cousins and one bottled tackle on halfway line (I agrees with Exiled it was 40:60 and risked getting sent off if he's late anyway) and which overshadows everything he did well, which I though was quite a lot yesterday. Please remember you aren't watching a £20m winger on your Sky tele box or playing Fifa, this is tier two football!
  • I accept that he isn't on the pitch primarily to defend, however, that doesn't excuse ducking out of tackles (bottled a 50/50 twice imo) and then standing moaning and waving his arms at team mates after his poorly executed flick or pass has given the ball away. All the while the oppo are breaking and threatening to score.

Stand by my comments that he has no football brain and ultimately that will be his undoing at this level.

Agree with others who think he'll be gone sooner rather than later.
  • Re. the standing around moaning bit.
Watch Vetokele when a move breaks down. He stands offside for a while then slowly ambles back onside. O/K he doesn't moan and yes he's our best striker. But people forgive him anything, yet won't cut Callum a little slack.

  • Watching THAT tackle from the other side of the pitch, my impression was that he jumped to avoid injury from a sliding tackle. I don't blame him for that, but maybe I'm not as brave as some others.
  • He is utter cack and loses possession so carelessly. A downward path for him like Kyel Reid and JCR before him.

Agree totally. Everything has to be a little flick or attempt a trick, too flashy by half. His only asset is his pace and he doesn't even use that effectively. I'd be happy never to see him play again.
  • Wow. Really harsh on one of our own, particularly after he had a decent game against our local rivals. It's just nonsense to say everything has to be a little flick when he was the only player putting in decent crosses yesterday and made our only decent chance with a simple through ball.

great to see charlton "supporters" out in force this morning
  • He did some good wing play and the usual mistakes but it was an improvement on this season displays, even if the bar was set low.
  • Can be useful in the attacking third, but on the rest of the pitch I am afraid to say he is worse than useless - he is actually a hindrance. Giving the ball away is not unforgivable (everyone makes mistakes) - not even attempting to rectify the error absolutely is. And then to have the gall to give stick to the poor sod you just passed ten feet ahead of or five feet behind as if they were to blame is just silly. It's just as well Bob had no hair when he started or he'd have torn it all out dealing with Harriott.

He makes chances and passes that it must be tempting for a manager to leave him there on the off chance that MAYBE one of them will finally come off but I seriously doubt the luckless fullback abandoned behind him feels the same way. I don't care whether he came from our academy, he might be 'one of our own' but the sooner he's not any more, the better.
  • Strange how we all see it differently.

In my view Harriott has the best work ethic of a Charlton winger since the days of John Robinson Wagstaff excepted.
  • Improvement on what though?......a very average set of performance's except for 1 stand out game last season.
Rather than always trying to do things himself, the youngster has held the ball up, brought others into play, and proved a useful partner to Vetokele up front......is what the article states.
Came on as a sub, and made how many passes that 'completed' ....... Besides the pass to George.
He was not the weakest player, but nothing special, if that is harsh on one of our own, then sometimes the truth hurts eh?. Quite why we played 1 up front, at home and failed to score, should have been changed , especially after that flat period half way in the second half, when Jacko was running out of steam. But then the manager knows his players better than us fan's, and will be judged on the results.

    Allowed an opinion aren't I?

I call him the nearly man..........nearly scored, nearly a good cross, nearly beat his man, nearly a good tackle, just a shame the nearly only turns into a did 3 times a season.
Not good enough for the championship im afraid.
