Here you have a talented and experienced 29 year old footballer who should be in his prime; played Champions League and made his name at top flight clubs in France, Italy and Denmark.
And he's been out work for 4 months.
It's a strange position for a top player to be in.
Could be loads of reasons, not saying that its definitely not a hidden agenda but why jump to that
Maybe clubs have offered him a trial and he did not like the area or the manager, style of football, ambition could be loads of valid reasons.
and if he is gonna sign a 3/4 year contract he will want to be somewhere he enjoys

He was going to join another club but FIFA 15 kept crashing.

I only asked the question, Paulie.
It's very noble of you to rush to his defence, but he's not going to be offered many chances of a 3/4 year contract if he stays away from the game much longer.

..............Hello Andy Delort, what you doing here? I thought you signed for Wigan. What your dad just tweeted you'd prefer to play for us, but you've just shook Dave Whelan's hand and bought a track suit from JJB sports......
Sorry, still getting flashbacks. Welcome Julio Giorgio, footballer and a gentleman
Didn't we have someone with us for a bit who hadn't played enough International games to qualify for a visa ? He then turned up at Chelsea a year or so later.
Alessandro Santos better known as Alex would have signed if he'd got a work permit but he didn't, so went home. He was Brazilian-Japanese. Edited to add Alex Song is from Cameroon.
He will be expected to compete with the likes of Simon Church and Igor Vetokele if he does put pen-to-paper on a deal to join the Championship outfit.
Lazy journalism imho.
but they do tell us that he has a French passport. As for being out of the game a few months, seems to happen a lot these days. Look at the American we just signed as another example. Maybe Tulio took the fact of his contract at Evian ending as a chance to go home for a few months. Maybe he was looking at a Club in Brazil, maybe there was a family issue. Who knows. I'll trust Big Bald Bob to tell whether a) he's fit enough and b) he's good enough.

Yes but if the agent, in planting this story, had any hope of finding a Club of greater stature than us then "competing with the likes of Simon Church" was never going to enhance his player's reputation.
Could not be bothered to read all the comments and sorry if it has been mentioned before but one reason why he may not have played in the U21 game is that he would have probably needed International clearance to play in that game and not just to train with us.

"CLOSE"
Journo talk for "we don't know if he is signing but it reads better if we suggest he is poised/close/just about/on the edge of to sign

Could have been taken from here or more likely the SLP. Quite possible and that's his agent's job.
Then we have to see if what he wants in wages matches what we can/are willing to pay and perhaps matches what other clubs are willing to pay.
But as he's been without a club for a while now we should be in a good bargaining position. Unless he's been unrealistic.
We just don't know.
