Our best chance in years to beat them, I don't think we will though.

It will be a draw. We've drawn 9 and they've drawn 6. Neither will roll over this year (anyone wanting to tell Bikey he will bottle it please take a step forward).

And WHEN we beat them, most Millwall fans will (genuinely) not mind that much about it, and be slightly amused by the extent of our joy.... let's face the facts.

Only scenarios that might get them agitated: a really big win, we relegate them, or win 10 in a row. Don't hold yer breath
  • I am bringing a Millwall-supporting friend and his wife as guests in the Greenwich Suite. It seemed the thing to do as we are going to be staying at their place in Hawaii with them in a few weeks time, but I dread to think what will happen if we lose.

Two weeks of hearing how we were taught a footballing lesson is not something I am hoping for.

Now, if we beat them, I am sure I won't even mention it.

    MUCH!

I have flashback of joe Piggott running onto a loose ball with no player near him and putting the ball out for a throw

The funniest moment in a football match for a very long time.
Na nothing will beat Dan Seaborne and the ball the just hit him and went out for a throw

I ended up having verbals with a fellow supporter at this game last season. I couldn't help it. I was so worked up at losing (again). The chap I sit next to (my old man's best mate) was moaning (he does moan a lot though, too much IMO) and a guy a few rows down as he was walking out had a pop at my dad's mate. Nothing serious, just along the lines of 'get behind the team, you're always moaning'.

I was so wound up with another shit defeat I had to jump to my dad's mate's defence.

Anyway, pointless story aside (I only told it to illustrate how pissed of I am with 11 wins in 65 games) and what this fixture does to me. We have to win this time. 7-0
  • Treat it as just another game, just another team to beat, don't get too worked up about it and we'll be fine.
  • Any idea when the Safety Committee will announce that we are to be locked in for an hour after the game whilst the Millwall supporters are allowed to leave on the final whistle to catch their special train? Or that we can't use Floyd Road to leave the ground and that we will have to make a two mile diversion instead to get back to the station.

I still get really pi**ed off thinking about that nonsense from a couple of years ago.

We can't win, IF we did it would still he a hollow victory (it's about time we beat them or every dog has their day) after all 18 years since we last won and 4 years since we scored against them!!!

It's charlton "that's what we do!"

Well, I plan to bring a huge flask of hot tea ( Earl Grey of course) , couple of rounds of prawn sarnies ( with thinly cut slivers of cucumber), a box of petit fours ( unlike our back 4 !) and my copy of War & Peace.

This up market picnic should help me & Mr F to comfortably sit out the inevitable hour after the game before it's safe to leave The Valley.

Eat your heart out delroofer !

    :-)

  • M.Duchatelet and Meire undefeated against them...Vetokele, Gudmundsson and Coquelin all playing just 1/2 hour so as to be rested...Peeters needs to start winning games again...A block east stand make a plait in lions tail...
This time we do it and it ain't hollow because it keeps us in touch with sixth place.

May I be the first to say hello to Matt Little, because there is absolutely no doubt that at some point he will meticulously read every comment on this thread. Hello Matt! How are you keeping?
  • I'm having to miss this game for the first time ever so that might mean we will get a result.

    But I doubt it...

Is there a ban on taking rattles in to the ground for this match?

Agree with you so much. Was, and remain, so f*cked off with how we were treated at our own ground for this game. Have mentioned it to a few fans of other teams since, from across the country, and none can believe that this would ever happen to a home team. Stop pandering to these little d*cks and treat them like they deserve. If they play up...deal with them!

You wouldn't mind (ok you would but.....)if the old bill had escorted them & put them on trains but they just opened the doors & let 'em roam & so any pub far enough from the ground to be open was still packed with the pond life.

The staff member who put that nonsense together has been relieved of his duties over the summer. Doesn't mean anything changes but going through appropriate channels like the supporters Trust might get some resolution.

What annoys me about this fixture is how many Charlton fans go on about how we have to beat them, how much we hate them etc. then end up with a measly attendance which we would get playing the likes of Wigan on a Tuesday night.

    True.

We are not a club who can brag about Attendences but we always have good numbers in the derby games.
  • Let's be honest here
A lot of fans are put off by the scum contingent among their support and that is the fact of it
Anyone who has had the "pleasure' of going to a game against that mob know they have a higher than average helmet element
My sister asked if she should bring her 11 year old daughter and some overseas girl staying that week to this match
I said she'd prolly be ok but with her walk taking her up to the bottle neck on Floyd Road towards the station there will always potentially be a chance of getting caught up among the excrement of their and our support
So she's not coming and there wouldn't be a question if we were playing Wigan

When the day eventually arrives(maybe) that we beat the scum with a last minute winner , then a few of our more naive fans will see why the pond life down the road sing no one likes us

Gonna take my 8 year old to his first game v scum although my wife is against it but I have a good scumdar detector and can smell some on this board now
