Can't believe this was 16 years ago.....

Cracking introduction to Monday night football for us. Strangely don't remember the match that well, but remember the Hamilton Hall at Liverpool St being banged out before the game and 'ohhh Eddie Youds' echoing around the station.

Who else was there that night ? Don't remember us playing 3 centre halves very often. Anyone remember it better than me?

  • Great finish from Hunt. Think he was on the stretch.
  • Was this "the" Rufus tackle or that was probably a few years later cos I don't think it was in our first Prem season
I was at this one but can't recall much about it
  • Remember the "Human Dominos" falling onto a few people in the upper tier after getting too excited when the first goal went in.

Was at this with @oakster and ended up 3 rows further forward after the first goal!

Hamilton Hall was banged out that night. 16 years ago. Bloody hell.

No, that game was in the early 2000's once he had come back from a long lay-off
  • We battled well and deserved a point after going 2.1 down. Could even have nicked it late on when Steve Jones turned a defender and fired inches wide with the keeper beaten.
  • I was there in the lower tier I had my own personal steward . Andy Hunts first goal was at are end I remember the famous song around White Heart Lane oh Andy Hunt !
  • I was there, didn't miss a game that season (or the next 2)

We always seemed to do ok at Spurs, and them at our place

    Good times

Won that game 1-0 with a goal from none other than Chrissy Powell.

Was live on Monday Night Football too but a few taps in the away end by then as the PL novelty began to wear off and ticket prices started to rise.

  • I was in the Spurs end for that , right behind the goal when SCP obliged

  • Remember watching this on the tele wishing I was there. I don't think we lost at Spurs for about 6 years in a row

    2-2
    2 x 1-0s (Carlton Cole and scp)
    3-2
another 2-2 on a boxing day when we were 2 up

maybe another one, a nil-nil or something?

Amazing days, unlikely ever to be matched imo

We beat thm 3-1 at home, with Deano making a brilliant save from a Sheringham volley from a corner.

Remember the linesman nearest our end being an absolute useless twat. Great play by Steve Jones for the second remember him rolling the defender then setting up Hunt for the equaliser.

We also beat them 1.0 at home when JJ scored and also 2.0 when Jerome Thomas scored a belter.
  • Yes i was there , glad you posted this as i remember Andy Hunt scoring and going mental, didn't realise it was 16 years ago!

I'm still recovering from the 5-1 battering in the rain the season we got relegated with Dowie , Berbatov hat trick i think.
  • yes, interesting walk back to the station as well
  • Lol even worse for me going back into the British queen boozer where all their lot had been before the game and I was with them, getting the poor little charlton we don't mind you lot

Fuck me did they mind us after I was certain I was going to get at least a dig if not a glass I'm my head at some stage but fair play to a few of theirs I know well, to keep people in check

My bollox needed to be huge that night, so I didn't get on my toes and get abused for years after fir running away
