One of THE best Charlton buys. We played to his strengths by getting the ball forward early and watching him burn onto balls through or over the top. Also very sharp in the box and got his share of close range goals. Williams was strong for a little bloke and was very hard to knock off the ball and somehow used to keep his balance while defenders fell around him.

I'd love to know where the people that compile the videos get their song choices from.

He's quick, he's fast, and he's got pace.
    And he is slippery.

I used to pick the music for Netbusters. By the end of the season we'd use anything we could get our hands on!

    Good striker.

I remember going to watch him play an England B match at the old den. He used to like playing alongside Carl Leaburn. Carlo held the ball well and helped create chances for Williams.

Another Lennie Lawrence discovery .. I didn't see him play that often owing to being abroad a lot during that period .. what I recall, a top class, very quick striker .. he's be worth million upon million nowadays

David Hirst once said he was the best player he played with.

Looking at that montage brought back what a great player he was. A proper striker who always seemed to find space in the box.

Blotted his copy book in the Anglo italian playing for Palace at the Valley, with his chain pulling action to the North Stand.

Remember reading an interview with him at the time ........ he said he used to eat a pile of sweets before playing, instead of the normal pre-match meal.

He reckoned all the sugar and E-number additives gave him more energy!
