Also a lot of credit to Mark Humphreys of PHB Construction for putting the memorial up.
And well done the Comms team for the bumper programme

Took a while but SE7toSG3's idea from November 2011 is finally about to happen.
and very well done @SE7toSG3
The programme cover that Henry posted is brilliant, captures the mood perfectly - I might even buy one !
A sneak preview.
The Military, past, present and future are so overwhelmingly deserving of our thoughts. I do a (sort of) desk job and just have the utmost respect for anyone willing to genuinely put their balls on the line.
My heart felt thanks to all those who have made this happen.
We do not treat our forces well enough IMO, but that is for a different thread.
Donald took part in the Normandy landings and fought in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was twice ‘Mentioned in Despatches’ - on one occasion for continuing to maintain communication whilst the enemy shells landed amongst his unit.
At the Mayor of Royal Greenwich’s inauguration I was chatting to Major Gerry Porter MBE of the Royal Artillery Barracks at Woolwich, who I have known for some while through my time at the Club. Gerry told me about Donald being this year’s recipient of the Royal Artillery’s ‘Veteran of the Year’ Award which is presented on Armed Forces Day – as an aside I went to school with Donald’s son Peter. I mentioned this to Mick Everett and I’m delighted that Mick has arranged for Donald to be the guest of honour on Saturday, accompanied by Major Gerry Porter.
Donald was a deserved recipient of the ‘Veteran of the Year’ Award and I can’t think of a more fitting person to unveil the plaque
We have a participant from the first world war too but more of that on the day.
