Generally Bolton had the lion share of the possession but did not create many clear cut chances. Our midfield played too deep last night and gave Bolton too much space. Other teams will punish us with that much space. The defence were good last night particularly the Centre halves who covered for the midfield too much. But still cannot complain with a win even when you dont play well and that is testament to work rate and some luck.
Henderson - 7 Brave to a fault. Came out to crosses in the 2nd half when the midfield decided to play musical statues. How much of his bad kicking is due to being under pressure because of so many poor back passes?
Wilson - 6 Was a threat going forward in the first half, particularly when Bulot, Moussa and Buyens wove some lovely passing triangles. Joined in with standing and watching that everybody else did in the 2nd. A number of times seemed to be caught out dawdling on the ball in his own penalty box, which added to my grey hairs.
Bikey - 7.5 At times in the game seemed to try to take the game by the scruff of the neck single handedly. Great barnstorming run in the 2nd half.
Ben Haim - 8 Almost faultless performance. Some great last minute tackles, and he is so comfortable on the ball. Mugged off a striker in the 1st half. Such a calm influence, when surrounded by swirling chaos.
Wiggins - 6 I thought he turned in a decent performance. Didn't get forward much, but decent defensively. Not much help in front of him.
Bulot - 6 I really like him. Has a bit of razzle dazzle that defenders don't like. There were signs of a cracking understanding between him, Moussa and Buyens. I was also impressed with some of his defensive work. In the first half, chased back when Bolton counter attacked, and stood up the winger allowing the defence to get back. Apparently, doesn't speak much English, so can only see him improving.
Buyens - 7 In the 1st half, played far further forward than he has in recent games, and looked very dangerous. Sumptuous chip for the 1st goal. Things started to go wrong when he dropped back in the 2nd half.
Jackson - 6 Did the defensive work in the 1st half, allowing Buyens to be more creative farther forward. Seems to be the only player who can tackle in midfield. Lung busting run to score the 2nd.
Cousins - 5 Did some good work in the 1st half. No one can criticise his effort, and determination. However, a few appalling first touches, that looked like passes to the opposition. In the East stand, there may be something that others didn't see. Early in the 2nd half, he took a knock, and was limping for a few minutes. Then, he absolutely lost his discipline. Seemed to be marking 20 square yards of empty grass. That was when it was perceived that Wiggins was having a bad spell. Will probably play in the centre on Friday, as Buyens is suspended. It's up to him to really stake a claim for that position.
Moussa - 5 Flashes of quality, interspersed with moments of farce. Clearly, a decent passer of the ball, but never seems to have the ball under control when running with it. So often runs at defenders, only to give the ball away cheaply. I can see him being very successful on Friday, when he may play the playmaker role.
Tucudean - 8 MOTM This may be a controversial, but he showed what he is all about. It seems to take George 10-15 minutes to get up to the pace of the Championship. But, he is so skillful, he gives defenders absolute nightmares. When he gets the ball at his feet, he seems to mesmerize defenders. A cracking goal, and a great assist. We shouldn't expect too much from him when the ball is in the air, it's not his game. Stuck manfully to his task when receiving no service.
One other thing to comment on: "The Beast's" tunnel jump at the end? - 10!

So many negative comments & downratings of Tucudean for his lack of balance here - but surely this is irrelevant when he scored a truly brilliant goal and set up another? Plus, a couple of them may have been fouls that weren't given.

That is my big worry about Cousins in central midfield,giving it away there is far more dangerous.
