This is what I posted before the Norwich match. Not often I say this but I fancy a win on the road for the first time this season. Brum at home will be the banana skin.
I am beginning to regret it now. I am ready for the hate mail that will follow.
I think this is literally the first game of the season where the average fan expects us to win and thus we will inevitably lose.
It can't be worse than February when fans hoped or expected to win and we saw the last of Evina. Our club has changed a lot in seven months but there's hasn't. Big test to see how we can play against a lower half team who may look to park the bus? Far more important than fan expectations will be Bob Peeter's preparations - we've played weaker teams earlier this season but that was away and the team now has ten games experience behind it. This isn't theory anymore - they are playing for the right to stay in the top six. For all these reasons I back us for a win.
Birmingham have been in pretty poor form this season but they have some dangerous players going forward. We have to go and win this one and try to get more than one goal.
Interesting that reading above, we seem to be split between a win for the Addicks, or my God we always lose when we start to think we are going to win. I think we can expect a hard fought, tight game, and my best guess is 2-1. This is a new Charlton, and something about Bob really impresses me. If B'ham are to get something out of the game, they are going to have to work damn hard, but then again it worked for us on Tuesday. I suspect that we might see more of Ahearne Grant in this one, but only if Bob likes the way the game is going. To summarise I haven't got a bloody clue what's going to happen.
Brum got a point at Norwich and 3 at Millwall in their last 2 games so are not to be taken too lightly. I would suggest that we are better suited to away games, nicking goals on the break and defending in depth rather than overwhelming valley visitors with flair, skill and attacking zest . Still, given our impetus, form and high morale, any result other than a home win would be a surprise.

I know the feeling Granpa, you start to post, half way through writing you think what am I talking about, there's no process. I'll go with a 3-0 win for us, Peeters will step outside his technical area at some point and remonstrate with either the 4th official or Terry McDermott (if he still rolls with Lee Clark)
In 1973 the Arab states of Egypt and Syria with help from Jordan and others launched a surprise attack on Israel on Yom Kippur hoping to catch the Jewish state unprepared while the whole country was shut down for the religious holiday.
Despite early gains the "away team" of Egypt and Syria were soon stopped and the war was another victory for "plucky little" Israel.
As it was so shall it be again.
Birmingham's invading hordes will gain an early advantage but Bob will re-group his troops and drive them back to the (non-Golan) Heights (old name for the East Terrace) and secure victory by a score of 3 - 1.
Birmingham will then try to enforce an oil embargo on London until they realise that don't have any oil.
Charlton wandered for many years in the wilderness before returning home and we have had many players who were unable to play on Saturdays (or any day of the week). We even had a player whose nickname was Kosher. Let's face it, we have a lot in common with the Jews. We are God's chosen football team, after all.
I hope George is fit. Regardless, we're at home so would expect more support up front for Igor. This is a tough one to call as the Charlton of the past would lose this. However, I think we have too much savvy now. Or have we?
Here's hoping Morro can put in a performance. Don't let us down big boy.
So, I don't think we'll lose but a win will put us up in the stratosphere just before the international break. Are we capable of that? This is Charlton after all.
After much soul searching I've decided to risk it for a biscuit. 2-0 Addicks and we're in the stratosphere. Now Bob and the boys - over to you.
1968/69 revisited and as birmingham have a player sent off charlton take advantage to win 3-1 and propel themselves and their fans into believing they could go up..
They won't come to play expansive football. See them trying to keep it tight and Nick something. Nothing wrong with that tactic away from home where it's done fairly well for them this season.
First goal is as usual crucial. I'm going for a very frustrating 1 - 1
Big grumpy family party going up for this one so bound to be a 0-0 bore-fest.
The critical question for me though is whether to turn my back on the burger van opposite the Superstore after ten years of faithfully munching on a zero meat content dehydrated 'large with onions (lots of) and cheese' and be tempted by those trendy continental types with their hand-pulled pork baps and fancy ways behind the east stand.

personally I think the former and am going for a 4-0
Come on Charlton give us the result our respective league positions would expect.

Go with the later 2-0
