Charlton game tactics thread

A dedicated football based tactical thread designed for people to openly give their opinion on how we should approach the next game(s) via formation, and who should play and what position and all the rest.

We have football intell eggheads on here. Perhaps before you give your opinion on what Peeters is doing right or wrong, you notify what credentials you have, ie, "I have the UEFA Pro Licence and I think Peeters has been spot on so far", or, "I dont have any coaching qualification nor would I need to justify anything like that, Ive been watching football all my life and should be part of the charlton coaching staff".

There are loads of minor threads like this and of course the very good pre-match thread but this could be useful if you just want to "let it all out".

I for one and very happy with our intelligent approach to games this season.

I would suggest we need to revert back to the 4-4-2 when we play lesser teams at home. We need to be able to express our attacking credentials quickly so we get a bit of confidence back in our own ability. Results wise, we are very good when "up against it" though, as we heavily found out, last night.

Cant see the benefit of having cousins on the left of midfield. I think that needs to stop.

Igor needs a mate upfront.

Jackson is underrated and gets slagged off too easily. We are not arsenal football club. We are fighting in the championship. I know why he gets picked and its not just becuase he has to be picked as the captain. (nothing to do with last nights goal)

Thats my input so far. Not really that in-depth at all...but forgive me, I only have FA level coach badge 1 :) (you dont actually have to mention a coaching background)

Comments

  • He has pretty much got it spot on, my only issue is when he plays 4-4-1-1, it leaves Igor isolated and he cant play as a 1
  • MrLargo - Tactical Credentials

    - Multiple successes on Championship Manager 2 and Championship Manager 97/98, struggled on some of the later versions.
    - Got up to season 2497/98 on Football Chairman, then got bored.
    - Avid fan of "Andy Townsend's Tactics Truck"
    - Considered for CAFC Head Coach's job in 2006 (Peter Varney even took the time to write to me and tell me that my application had not been successful)
    - A friend once told me that my anus knew more about football than Robbie Savage

I think we're playing quite well so far, although we could do with scoring a few more goals, so maybe go with 6 up front on Saturday.

    I have recent success

guided Charlton to the Premier League on FM14 with the update for this summers transfer window
  • Lost championship playoff final on FM 13 to Wolves. Will never pick up another football manager game again. Heart was genuinely broken....
