Excellent news and glad we're learning from the past in terms of signing up our best talent before it slips off to another club. Very thin squad at the moment (although I do like what we've got) so there is a good chance that some of these lads will get a look in particularly in early rounds of the FA cup and during congested fixture lists.
Talking to former academy coach Steve lovell tonight and he said that KAG Grant is the next big thing to come from our Academy
He scored 2 last night against Ebbsfleet. In front of Big Bob, who was at the game.
Interestingly, CP never went to a single KSC game, not even when we beat Tonbridge Angels in the final.
I Remarked on that at the time, That CP did not seem to watch his young players. He would of seen Michael Smith run riot and score 4 or 5 goals that night.
At sparrows lane for the nat semi against Udders, Alex Dyer Was pitch side, maybe CP was watching from inside the building ?
Again the boys were great. Scored 6 this time
Callum Harriott seem to be the only young player getting into the first team, yet one of the development games i went to he was the weak link.
The first game of the next season we were at bournmouth away. JJ failed a late Fitness test, no stevens or cousins who had had a good pre season, The midfield we started with was Gower,Hughes and pritchard, 97 years between them. now bradley was a great runner but was stuck out on the right. Hence we got over run.
Deepest respect To CP, a true legend, as player and manager (1st div title) But feel Bob Peeters will play the best team on the day, even if your still an academy player
From a close friend of the family of KAG, Bob told him he would be on the bench Tuesday, only to be replaced by Bulot at the 12th hour. So obviously in Big Bob's plans.

Interesting he already seems to be ahead of Ansah.

Think that has a lot to do with Ansah's injury he had at Arsenal, still working his way back up to full fitness.

decent man management, keeps him chomping at the bit. Also meant he could relax and experience a senior match day with the squad.

Be interesting to see as well if he travels with the Squad tomorrow
Good luck two both lads, hope you have a great career at CAFC.
Are you Listening Casey Palmer, you chose to go to Chelsea when they came calling, earning more than you would at CAFC ?
Gomez has already played at 17 for the !st team, Aherne-Grant could well join him before the end of the season even thou his 17 birthday is today.
I have more chance of having a fling with Kelly Brook than you have of playing for chelsea 1st team.
In two years time, Gomez will get a transfer to a top 4 club in prem, with 50 games under his belt. CAFC will get 10 million and you will be on loan at Grimsby.
No brainer.
Actually not sure Kasey even has a chance at Chelsea's U21s! He hasn't played this season. An U19s UEFA game is the best he's managed so far. And then only as a sub in the 80th minute.</blockquotei
I thought i might end up with egg on my face, saying that. Thanks for that info.

SCP brought through more academy players than any manager has since Curbs in the mid nineties, he gave Harriott, Cousins, Poyet, Fox, Pigott their debuts, and made Solly our first choice right back when many thought we should sign someone more experienced.
good counter C_A_F_C but did you have to kick my soapbox that hard.
I think it was after that Bournmouth game when gower and hughes struggled that chris realised he would have to start playing cousins, pigott and Harriott. Poyet only started to play last season after Stevens left and we were down to the bare bones.
HuskarisMember September 18 edited September 18 Fantastic! I for one can't wait to declare them the best player I have ever seen at the valley, only to call them second rate when they leave us, before mellowing slightly 3-4 seasons later, and then hoping we might re-sign them, only to find out we won't and claim they are on ridiculously high wages and wouldn't be worth it. Christ, I hate those 2 greedy bastards already.
I haven't seen KAG play but he's very highly rated at the club. It's about time we produced a top class striker - the last one was Paul Walsh in 1980, so we're definitely due another !

Unfortunately we have had other strikers who were highly rated, too many to mention, but just recently Pigott, Sho-Silva, all the way back to Defoe, unfortunatly most of them never fulfilled their potential
Why do some have to use this as a chance to have a dig at those who wanted to move onto bigger and better clubs? Lets focus on those who have chosen to stay, and just wish them luck eh?
Semi Ajayi is on the bench for Arsenal in cup tonight. At nearly 21, still waiting for first game. In his case he left because only offered one year contract by slater. so left for norwich, then Arsenal. good luck.
Bigger and better ? For a young player who never gets a game and end up playing at a lower level. Macginty at Rochdale via Man united, Poyet struggling to get in 18, Parker struggled to get into Chelsea team.
Three examples: Macginty was still a youth player, Poyet had played just 20 games, and Parker was in a team that were 4th in premier and was the fulcrum of that side. went to Chelsea and played in reserves.

Good luck to them both, hard work starts here.

Bob to George
"i owe you nothing."
Parents to bob
Don't "drop the boy"
George to Bob
"i quit"

I love this posting, very perceptive well done.
Karlan signs three year deal
"I’ve seen @J_Gomez97 do it, now I just want to follow in his footsteps." --> http://bit.ly/ZbWzul #cafc
Have a feeling it won't be long until he makes the bench.
Interesting it also mentions an optional 4th year.
"Charlton have the option to extend the contract for a further 12 months at the end of Ahearne-Grant’s initial three-year deal."
I know about a good blend of youth and experience but come on
Lets focus on those who have chosen to stay, and just wish them luck eh?

The grass is greener ? richer maybe.
