Not a dig at anybody but thought it was very very sterile last night, no talking, music very low. Got in ground about 7.30, didnt hear nothing, didnt know line up. Was literally dead until teams come out.

Any reason for it??
We are Charlton Athletic, we don't do atmosphere or passion :-(

Maybe I didn't explain it well enough, I meant no pitch side announcer building up the atmosphere.

Yet everybody slags of Palace for their atmosphere......
Don't get me wrong I cant stand them but they are doing something right,

What, all dressing in black and throwing bog roll at each other? No thanks.
I know I'm a bit mutton but Red, Red Robin and announcements generally were all muted in Covered End Upper so perhaps they tried but the sound was shite.
notice that VFR was played just at KO (in the same way that West Ham play Bubbles and then cut off the tape and the crowd sing the rest as the game starts)..........cue tape cutting off and......silence.....at least they tried!

Thought it was all very Nottingham Forest when they did that... Still could have been silence because people werent expecting it

Yes great idea but should have been instrumental as the words 'Mull of Kintyre' sounded out the North Stand.
The atmosphere is generally an accurate barometer of what's happening on the pitch. Last night was no exception.
You sit in the North Stand Id guees?
Yes it was good in parts, very loud at 2 or 3 points, but anybody who thinks the atmosphere is great don't remember the old ground before the upper north was built.
Wolves sung once and were louder than we were all night, acoustics, not effort, which is why the valley should be hostil and CAFC at both endsof the ground.

Not a snipe or dig but in all honesty what would be the problem if it generated an atmosphere for 90mins, not a total of about 3 minutes the whole game?
If we could get the North lower filled with singers, banners, toilet rols, flares whatever, I wouldn't give a toss what they wore or how old they were.
in case your wondering, Im 38, never missed a home game from about 85 to 2008, bit bored of it the last few years, but going a bit more regular now if not playing Saturdays.
Palace got a load of teenagers following them abnout 4 years back, don't know how or why, couple of my boys mates, about 15/6 at the time, were getting a couple of beers in the coop near falconwood and I said , where you going? Palace they said, I was stunned??? couldn't understand it, there was about 8 of them going from Falconwood FFS. When I questioned them they just said theres loads that all meet up and have a good laugh the whole game.
That will be their next generation
Obviously you had the young lads at CAFC who tried this but just got mocked and criticised for everything they done by, well, a bunch of moaners really.
Like Ive said I don't Palace but they done something right, don't even know what it is.

I'm near half way and in my opinion our fans were generally louder. Nothing from them until the goal.

Hence my Wolves sung once comment, and it was louder than us.

Thought the atmosphere was better then Saturday, and Wolves were pretty quiet until their goal, and they werent hugely loud after that, not sure what the issue is here....
From the stream, the charlton support was loud and clear uptill just after the goal. Just before half time and for most of the 2nd it died down. Just need to keep the atmosphere going throughout, especially when we started to sit back a bit
So why has the tannoy system been turned down? Could hardly here the music in west upper and last saturday the announcement re David Whyte was muffled.

And nothing uttered in the 15 minutes prior to kick off??????
It was just a bit of a surreal atmosphere build up for a top of the table Championship clash
