Team for Saturday

I have been thinking a lot about the team Pards will play on Saturday and, given the physical size of the Blades and the nature of the game I reckon he might tweak things a bit.....

Here's the side I think he will pick....

Carson
Young - Elk - Diawara - Thatcher
Ambrose - Song - Faye - Thomas (if fit)
ZZ
D. Bent

What side does everyone else think he will put out?

  • KISH! GET INTO 'EM!
  • Funnily enough this is just the sort of game that Kish would have excelled in....
  • Holland for Faye

He has been superb since crimbo.

He has been superb since crimbo.

agree, that's about the best side we could put out at the moment.
  • and let Romm off the leash with 30 mins to go attacking the covered end.

Saturdays when he'll score at home. !!
  • Carson
    Young - Elk - Diawara - Thatcher
Ambrose(or ZZ) - Holland - Song - Thomas (if fit)
    D. Bent-JFH

If Thomas isn't fit I'd swich Ambrose to the left and play ZZ on the right.

We need goals, and one from the last three isn't good enough, we've created one or two openings and not taken advantage, JFH therefore has to start with Darren Bent, we need two upfront, this is a must win game and to do that we need goals.
  • Remember the emphasis is firmly on us, not Sheff U, to win this game.

They will come entirely for a point, to cancel us out and to be impossible to break down. My fear is we aren't playing with enough width to break them down at the moment.

And the player to give us more width would be Dennis. But for some reason Sheff Utd doesn't strike me as his type of game!

Recently, with more or less only Baby Bent up front, we've looked pretty lightweight upfront.

I'm not JFH's greatest fan, but he undoubtedly made a difference when he came on for the last 7 or 8 minutes at Everton - playing a big part in Benty's equaliser and after, teeing up El Kak for what could have been a winner.
If he's up for it, JFH while not particularly mobile can be a real handful holding up the ball which is something we've recently lacked up front.

I think Dennis is ideal to come an late against tiring defenders. Sure, Sheff Utd will be rough with him but he will get past defenders or be brought down. Potential matchwinner.
  • Agree with AFKA - even more than in the last two home games we are really going to have our work cut out to score.

We won't get anything out of Ambrose, play Dennis instead - he will really give them something to focus on, perhaps enabling us a touch more space and time elsewhere.

    ................Carson
    Young - Elk - Diawara - Thatcher
    - Holland Song Faye/Hughes
    Romm ............................ZZ
    ................D Bent

If we go 442 I'd rather Lisbie than JFH any day - and I still have a sneaking suspicion Lisbie is actually going to score for us this season!!

BY the way does anyone know why Holland was dropped at Everton ?

  • I'd like to see Lisbie in there too if we go 442, at his young age the his blistering pace will give them serious problems, and he's no worse at scoring than JFH/BB at the moment..

My strongest midfield attack would be

Romm Song ZZ Thomas(Ambrose if he's not fit)

    Bent Liz

    go for it you Addicks!
