By the time you've run through all that the balls gone out for a throw in and we've thrown it straight to their unmarked twinkle toe-d playmaker..

    I'd read it.

And if I got in a position to make that decision, I'd remember it.

And I'd go in for that tackle, run that extra yard or make that pass.

    But then I'm a shite footballer. :-)
  • That's survived four years!

I discussed that with Powelly the day he got the job. It's a quote from Ian McGeechan just before a British Lions test match in, I think, Australia. He'd never heard it, so I got the transcript. He said he'd put it up in the dressing room, and he was as good as his word...

It's meant to be a lingering thought in a player's mind, just to raise it's head when they're tired.

Glad to see it lived on!
  • With over half the first XI being foreign players these days I doubt some of them could plough through that!

Doubt the younger English lads could either. Should of posted on Twitter or something.

Summarise it in 140 characters and it'll be on all the players minds tomorrow.

Ian McGeechan 3rd Test Speech, 1997 (watch it to the end)
  • It's a good read, do you think it fell off the wall last season?
