"...getting things like the Mexican wave started.."

I dont think I've ever been more against something so minor. Good luck to the girls in their own environment but this just isnt required. What would they say if i turned up at a Cheerleading contest singing "who ate all the pies" or "she fell over"???...If the club really want this, then perhaps do it around the stadium before the game...hand out info to passing girls...or link the girls tournament info as part of our website.

The Valley has just started getting its own character back, lets not spoil it.
  • I don't like footballers playing at a cheerleading show, and for that reason...
  • We are slowly becoming just a state of the United States anyway. Bring it on and stop being soooooo old.
  • Someone has to be a scapegoat so why not the cheerleaders.

    Only kidding. Feck NO.

    I'm not fine with it.

    But it'll happen now.
  • Charlton Cherubs is actually the name of an FA registered junior football club in Essex

you googled it as well then
  • Must have been a breakdown in communication when the fans wanted a couple up top.

  • I don't want the crap goal music or any forced atmosphere enhancing gimmicks, however, they are young girls in a team - the article, should any of you actually read it, talks about how it is a sport in its own right and should be recognised as so.

So, good luck to them, a bit of practice for their competitions whilst in front of a crowd, before the game or at half time when the majority of you lot will be farting and scratching your b0llocks whilst eating a pie and spilling a pint on the concourse.

Why do they need to practice in a football stadium? They can go and practice in Charlton Park instead thanks.
The clue is in the 'link up between CAFC and Greenwich Uni' I'd imagine.
Yes, I know. My point still stands.

I have no issue with it, having taken some time to think- pre match I'm reading the programme half time I'm getting a drink/pie.

I feel it is a hoax anyway based on our cheerleaderish kit.
  • Feel sorry for the girls. If they're supposed to try and get Mexican waves started they're going to get dog's abuse off people in the crowd. It's just not something football fans want. Oh well.

Cheerleaders and the mexican wave is only needed at sport or events that lack any organic excitement.

The red red Robin is all i need.
So it's a no from........What... Katrien going to be head girl !

They at least should be given one chance

I know most of these girls personally and whilst they are a great bunch of girls to be around they aren't the best cheerleaders or dancers around and bless them they aren't all beauty paegent queens. Unfortunately it is something that Charlton approached the Uni about and obviously the Mermaids (as they are known) wanted all the extra coverage and attention they could get. Cheerleading as a 'sport' is growing incredibly fast in this country and stuff like this will only increase its reputation, and will be seen as a huge boost to the cheer world in the UK, but for us this is a negative in my eyes. I'm glad the girls have been given the opportunity on a personal level, but I really really wish it wasn't with my own club

Dogs abuse off people in the crowd? really? because a group of young girls try to start a mexican wave? More likely they'll get ignored, but I'd hope they wouldn't get abuse.

  • NO. NO. NO. Will be the most embarassing thing that has happened to our club in our entire existence
