Striker surprised by prolific start to Charlton career

Comments

  • Never admit it

    *facepalm
  • This reads like:

"I'm surprised I've scored 5 goals already because I always thought I was a bit shit"

It's not that, he's just being humble!

was about to say this, rare characteristic these days. apparently.
  • Yay, i knew we would find something to criticise Igor for, that is a relief. ;-)
  • Given how many posters were under the impression he was only scoring in a substandard league and would never ever make the step up to the dazzling, intricate heights of the Championship I don't think he is the only one to be surprised!

We Charlton fans are a jaded and cynical lot, there have been far too many Dicksons and Fleetwoods (hot prospects who actually are terrible at this level) or Grays and Hasselbainks (putting the 'past' in past it) for us to get too excited about any highly rated striker. Having a striker who can score from inside or outside the box with either foot and can header a ball besides takes us back to the halcyon days of Darren Bent Bent Bent. I for one am glad we seem to have found that mythical beast, the '20 goals a season striker'... but pray to God, Odin, Zeus or any other deities in earshot that he doesn't get injured!
  • He should say 'i knew i would have a 1 in 1 ratio 5 games in and i fully expect to get at least 46 goals'.
  • Also have to add that during the interview, as well as being humble, he also came across as a bit shy - he was speaking to Jamie Hill from BBC London and a few national newspaper journos who I assume he hadn't met before and was maybe a bit shy and took a while to open up with a few quotes I could use in the story!

Happily he lets his football do most the talking. He's absolute mustard.
  • "in Copenhagen I was playing Champions league but the league over here is much more intense - many more games, more teams, more quality. It's better for me as a player to improve and learn"

Imagine what he will be like when he's improved and learnt!

  • Crazy that he isn't at his best yet, 5 in 5 and he's not used to the league, doesn't receive the best service (let's be honest) and his finishing isn't what it can be.
