A very comfortable win in the end against a Colchester team who until the sending off looked like they were well up for it.
The defence and keeper didn't have much to dhich is always a good sign. Fox got caught wrong side of his man once or twice but I'll put that down to being slightly rusty. Bikey & Morro were as you expected. Gomez look good. I think some people are being a bit OTT with 'outstanding' comments but for his age a debut he didn't look out of place.
A LOT of sideways passing through our midfield. For me too much. We saw Cousins & Harriot make a couple of surging runs through the middle and I'd like to see more of this. New guy No17 looks to have a good range of passing on him and if I was Bob I'd be encouraging him to look for that killer throughball because at times it was on. Wilson my MOTM. For me he proved last season he's capable of making that RM role his own and he should be 100% be starting Saturday in front of Solly. Not only does he give us good defensive cover but also a genuine attacking threat. Harriot didn't have the best of games. I find him infuriating at times as he needs to release to ball earlier.
Moussa had a good game considering his lack off football. Am i right in saying he got two assists?? He could be a valuable option from the bench is we wanted to change things up a bit. New guy No29 I fear is going to be this years Simon Church. Im a firm beliver of giving the new guys time to settle in but I fear unless he nicks a couple of goals soon the crowd will be on his back. I'm looking for a steady improvement from him and a higher work rate I still think we need another 2 strikers in before the window shuts.
All in all a comfortable win and a good run out for some players that might not have a lot of minutes at the start of the season. Tough game Saturday my team would be:
Henderson Solly TBH Bikey Wiggins Cousins No17 Wilson Jacko No7 Igor
Tickets for Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup match against Colchester United (7.45pm) will be available from The Valley ahead of kick-off.
Tickets for the Lower North and Lower West Stand are priced £10 adults, £5 over 60s and U21s, £2 U18s, £1 U18s when accompanied by an adult as part of the Capital One promotion (maximum of five tickets per adult).
The knock-out tie will provide the first run-out on the reconstructed Valley playing turf following a summer of extensive works around the stadium.
So why did they charge £2 for kids with an adult. I bought one for my mate's kid & they said it was only £1 if booked indvance. Didn't affect me & it's only £1, but the principal matters. You can't advertise selling at a certain price and then charge double.
