I was impressed by Harriott when he came on. He got stuck in & won a lot of balls. The chance came to him quickly, he was under pressure from a defender, & I suspect he did not expect Vetokele to set him up like that. He did put his foot through it though & he was very unlucky it smashed into the bar rather than the net. No need to get on his back.
Disappointing to not get the win after leading but overall a fair result. Brentford were well up for it and very direct but, on this showing, they'll be bottom half but maybe not relegated.
I was afraid we were going to come out and try and play a slow continental passing game but it is clear that Big Bobby P has got the message across that Championship games are a battle.
Two points dropped on the first day AWAY doesnt matter at all.
Really nice to seeing us looking really dangerous.
Vetokele looked out of this world against the Brentford defence. Massive positive to take from this game is that him and Gudmundsson demonstrated real quality in the final third. Seemed a class apart in their decision making and execution. Hope they continue to shine.
Centre mids we were a disgrace. And we weren't up against the most imposing of opponents, we simply got powered off the park there. Jackson I dont expect to perform well in a 2 when his partner was also getting skinned. So Buyens/Jacko is not an option on this showing. Get Jordan Cousins back in the middle immediately.
Bikey and Henderson made excellent debuts.
A lot to look forward to but a league 1 centre midfield performance today led to us coming under too much pressure and not being able to control the game. It was an away game against a team used to winning so we should see the game as hugely positive.
Brentford worked hard in the first half. We all knew they would but they didn't really make many chances. They struck me as being a bit basic. On the other hand some of our new boys look like they have a bit of quality about them.

Change manager and players but typical frustrating Charlton. Should have had it wrapped up but two points dropped. Very unimpressed with Brentford and the whole attempt was a lot more subdued from them than I was expecting.
Point in the board though so positive from that. Igor looked impressive and the back four.looked solid.
Vetokele and Gudmundsson stood out for me as the new boys. Great work rate, Gudmundsson with his closing down and he showed some glimpses of real quality. Brilliant through ball in the first half for Tucudean and I like the fact he actually try's to beat a player and not afraid to take a shot. Igor looks lightening quick and will definately score some goals for us this season. Solly was his usual class self, always comfortable on the ball and rarely makes a mistake. Wiggins was abit disappointing with his distribution giving it away and didn't really get a chance to bomb forward, wondered if he looked match fit? Cousins I thought had a good game, even being played on the left. Always wanting to get on the ball, top top player in the making. Really hope we can hang onto him for a few seasons. Much better 2nd half than the 1st where we played some really nice stuff, disappointing to lose that goal near the end to such a bad deflection. I predicted 1-1 and so it proved, happy before the game with a point but just a shame we couldn't hang on. Thought it would be a tough game but can only see this team getting better.
Did not mean to blame Harriott heavily with my initial observation, just gutted, as if he slots that in we have an opening day win.
Weakness was CM but other then that we looked a decent side this early in the season, Solly & Wiggins both showed why they are two of the best full backs in the division on their day.
We really should have won that, although a draw was probably a fair result overall. Tucudean should have buried the chance in the first half and Callum needed more composure (as aways) for his chance in the second. Solly, Bikey, Johann and Igor very good; Jacko and Tucudean below par. If we bring in a couple more quality players it will strengthen our chances of a good season, but the team is looking very promising.
I was happy enough until they scored we shouldn't have lost the lead really. I thought Henderson looked promising, vetekele looked up for it, would have liked to see the subs get more time I don't think we done too much wrong, just not an awful lot to get excited either, 1st game though and a point is still a point.
Watched it on the computer. Disappointed we didn't get all three points but a draw is probably a fair result as they played better than us in the first half. Vetokele looks promising and I hope he will be our new Darren Bent this season. Henderson did quite well (apart from some poor goal kicks) and could've saved that goal. He may become a better goalkeeper for us than Hamer. I'm well pleased with the back four (perhaps except TBH) but our central midfield is the big worrying part of the team. Really hope it will get addressed soon, otherwise we'll be in trouble next time.
All in all, an acceptable start - probably better than I expected and there's definitely much to look forward to in the future.

I don't feel inclined to cut him any slack. It was a guilt edged chance that just needed rolling into the net, which he fluffed with his customary lack of composure. Ultimately it cost us 3 points. I'l get over it and hopefully he will, but I'll be damned if won't say my piece
Can't beleive I've seen someone say Jackson had a decent game. The bloke was way off the pace of the game, constantly making fouls and unable to keep hold of possession.
Vetokele on the other hand, think we may have found an absolute gem right there.

Very harsh Jessie. He had no chance with the deflection.
Watched the stream. Quite happy with that to be honest.
I think we look solid and the goalkeeper looks confident.
You can see that Vetokele is a class above what we are used to seeing up front in recent times. Very excited to see more of him. The same with Gudmundsson who played a wonderful pass in the first half.
Another creative midfielder and another striker and I think we will be top half.
1-1 seems like a fair result overall. And when you look at the shambles at Blackpool, Leeds losing to the scum, and Huddersfield losing 4-0 to Bournemouth, other teams are in trouble...

Sorry I mis-wrote it... I meant he would have saved it if it wasn't for the deflection.
Going to stick my neck out here and say Vetokele will score 20+ for us this season. Certainly looks capable, you can tell he has lots of quality. Bikey is an absolute monster, the guy is huge and completely dominant in the air. Not half bad with the ball at his feet either. Henderson looked very confident, felt gutted for him after that horrible deflection. Solly and Gudmundsson linked very well down the right, esp. second half. Think we just about deserved the win but can't really complain about the result, although it's always annoying to concede from a deflection. I reckon we'll do pretty well this season.
Would have taken a point before the game but felt we were well in control and of course young Callum should have wrapped it up.
Vetokele looks class... maybe my top goalscorer bet isn't fanciful after all
Centre halfs were solid and didn't give the ball away much. I thought both full backs were disappointing.
Buyens better than Jackson for me but felt Judge was just what we were missing in terms of invention.
Henderson made some good saves but did flap at one cross.
Gudmondsson put in a shift, even if much of what he tried didn't come off.
Decent point and performance and when (!) Delort joins, we should have more firepower. I only hope we sign a central midfielder with more creativity or Moussa can be that man.
Harriott shouldn't get hung out to dry for what ended up being a crucial moment.
Unfortunately he missed and then they scored so mistake compounded. He wasnt ready or anticipating what Igor was gonna do.
Otherwise he looked lively and dangerous.
Id like to see him play on the left wing next game given our current squad options. I can see why Cousins played out wide to nullify their RW but it backfired as we got roasted in centre mids.
What impressed me listening to the game was the number of times I heard that Vetokele was back there helping out the defense. I get the feeling he's going to be huge this year.
I think we need another striker up there to work with him (DeLort?) and a more creative midfielder. Could Moussa do that? We sort those 2 things out and we could be top half material.
Edit: Just seen that Crookester said much the same in the previous post. Great minds and all that. :-)
Disappointing to concede late on, as Brentford were looking short of ideas at that stage and the pivotal moment was Callum's shot against the bar - if that had gone in, it would have been lights out.
Overall, though, it was arguably a fair result, as Douglas, Judge and Pritchard completely overran us in midfield in the first half. We were lucky to go in on level terms, albeit that Tucadean had the best chance of the first half.
We were much better in the second half and Vetokele looks one hell of a centre forward. He capitalised on Button's weak challenge for the goal (Richard Murray is right: the bloke has a good leap), hit the post following a sublime Solly cross and brilliantly set up Harriott by claiming a ball that was never his by a Mike Flanagan style slide in and lay off. This man will score a lot of goals. He also dropped a little deeper in the second half and effectively closed out Douglas and others who were trying to play out from the back. He defended well from the front and has pace to burn. You wouldn't want to play against him.
Too early to really judge the other new guys but Gudmundsson showed some nice touches and will make a difference, albeit with the classic winger's tendency to drop out of games for periods. Tucadean had a quiet game and looked a bit leggy in the second half and Buyens looked ok without offering anything offensively. He and Jacko are not, in my view, a good combo and we have to bring Jordan Cousins (one of our better performers) back into the middle.
Henderson did well in the second half, as did Bikey.
As to the regulars, Solly had a reassuringly good game, whilst Wiggins and Jacko were below par.
Overall, a very decent result and hopefully one that we can build on.
Looking forward to Tuesday and hopefully young Joe's debut.

I'm left feeling encouraged.

Like others have said, encouraging.

thought tucudean wasn't as impressive as the others making their debuts, and bikey is massive!
really do not like mccormack at all.

Vetokele will be a huge favourite this player. Incredible work rate.
