Thought Igor really stood out today as a real talent, seems to have a lot of pace and able to beat a player or two. His finish was pretty superb as well.
Another positive was the defense, thought they were completely at ease with what Portsmouth threw at them, outside of a long shot against the bar they didn't create anything. (The goal shouldn't have been allowed).
Midfield wingers looked a bit weak, and Jackson I'm sad to say played pretty poorly. Fouls all over the place where he was a yard behind the play.
My first chance to see the team other then highlights on CAFC player, i left optimistic if not excited by the performance.
Nobody had a bad game IMO but i don't think any of the subs showed enough to break in to the team next Saturday.
Solly & Wiggins the outstanding performers but Igor looks quality, can control the ball well, got the tricks, bursts of pace & not afraid to go shoulder to shoulder with bigger CBs.
I really like the look of Tucudean too, something about him as a player.
Bikey & Ben Haim looked comfortable, although i think Ben Haim was a little rattled by the constant abuse from the Pompey fans, which may have affected his performance.
He was desperate to take the penalty, which in hindsight maybe he should have.
The only starter who i thought had an almost bad game was Henderson but considering he is the latest arrival and the high praise he recieved from his previous loan clubs & our respected GK Coach, im willing to bet he will grow in to a top player for us as the season continues.
Don't feel confident with bikey and ben haim as first choice CBS. Got in each other's way a lot no communication .also the way they both acted when the penalty was awarded. Who do they think they are? Well done jacko for putting them straight even though he missed it.
cousins on left wing???? please, anyone who coaches football for a living or even p/t, why does this happen, surely a reserve, or even a youth left winger is better than placing a 1st teamer out of position? ...and the ensuing effect on his morale if hee as expected doesn't do the biz in unfamilar role etc. etc. ok, i get it, trying all sorts of options in pre-season, but they do during the real season too. i find it puzzling, but hey, they are are the experts, or...?

Not if you want Cousins to get fit by getting in some game time. That's what pre season is for n'est pas ?

Not ideal, but no harm in looking at options in case of emergency. What if whoever is playing there in a league game gets injured and no-one on the bench to play there in his place? Bob is using friendlies to see how these players cope (as he did with Harriott last week). Bobs conclusion might well be the same as yours, but you won't know the answer if you don't ask the question..........

i understand tango, thanks, and just hope it is all properly explained to a young/impressionable player beforehand, so they know/accept, and aren't demoralized by the "fish out of water" experience or worse, a public failure. it's fine with say an andy hughes, however, it can be forgotten, that some of these are just young lads/still teens.
Excited by Vetokele, took his goal very well, definitely one of the most exciting strikers we have had in recent years, and the stand-out player of the match for me. Tucodean took his goal well too - wasn't so convinced by the awful back-heal he played in the second half though
Thought TBH and Bikey looked okay for most of the match, in the first half there were some awful moments of miss-communication/lack of communication between them though.
Should their goal not have been ruled out for it going over the line for a goal-kick before it was headed back in? If not the defence went to sleep.
Buyens looked exciting, some good link-up play. Maybe his influence diminished after his head injury.
The second half was pretty dull. Jackson was clearly pissed off by the penalty, whether that was just because he missed or because of the messing about before-hand I don't know. Bikey definitely seemed to be having a laugh when he grabbed the ball, but Jackson did seem a bit peeved that he had to scramble for the ball (just my opinion, obviously could be wrong) - hopefully wouldn't be an issue in a real match.
Really was not impressed with Piggott when he came on, and hope we sign another striker as back-up/to challenge for a starting position as I worry if our options on the bench are Joe and Church.
Also, I am sure quite a few people noticed the fools in the right hand corner that seemed to only be there to try and start some agro with the pompey fans (only a couple). The few pompey fans opposite were obviously just as guilty, but it was pretty pathetic. Maybe I was missing something though, and by showing each other their nipples it was actually just a respectful way of saying good luck with the upcoming season. The pompey fans I met were really nice and wished us well for this year. Even had a close encounter with the bell ringer. Definitely a better showing than the Welling outing.
I agree with most of Moo2's comments- certainly Tucudean looked like he has some skill on the ball, and took his goal really well - think he and especially Igor will be a handful - as i mentioned earlier, Igor looked one hell of a player, took on 4 Pompey players amd outpaced all of them to win the penalty (with the help of an accidental handball). When Pigott and Church came on, the second half died a death- the difference was so noticeable. Cant see the criticism of Henderson, as he didnt have much to do. Yes, the bloke in the corner was a total pr1ck trying to antagonise the Pompey fans - if you're on here, you're an embarrassment. Not sure about Buyens - wasnt quite the player i thought he was going to be - but can see that he could be quite effective in Champs - he's certainly a bit bigger/taller than i thought but flattered to deceive for me, got stuck in, distributed ok, but seemed not to get over the half way line that much to help out the front line - maybe thats not his job ? But if its not his job, then i cant see it being Jacko's or Cousins ? Bike and TBH did get in each others way quite a bit, but i'm sure that will only improve - i tell you something, there's not many that is going to beat Bikey in the air - he's a big bloke ! . A bit concerned about the pen incident, in that Jacko WAS really peeved that TBH wanted to overrule him to take the pen, and got quite petulant when told to give it to Jacko - the way he was berating a lot of the players throughout the game, he comes over as a arrogant, up-his-own that could cause disruption amongst the squad- he had a huge go at Tucudean for not coming back for a Pompey corner. Also does that mean that Morro is no longer first choice? - it looks as if BP wants them to play out from the back, and AB and TBH did that quite a lot (and well) through the game, and maybe that isnt suited to Morro's game? - but Morro has to be there IMO. Overall, a good performance (especially in first half, strolled the second) - we look very solid, and want to play it out from back - we're def not going to be bullied by anyone, and with Bikey and Buyens, there's a def solidity to our team. Disappointed with Gudmonsen - had to check at times to see if he was still on the pitch- cant tell you if he was good or bad, as i dont remember any times he had the ball. Cousins was carp first half, but improved in 2nd when playing in normal position. Solly was ....well...Solly. However, wow, in Igor there is one hell of a player - his work rate is phenomenal (think Sodall, and muliply it by 100), obviously knows where the goal is, and has terrific pace. Tell you one thing , he wont be with us by end of season - he'll be in the Prem. He'll def be a crowd favourite this coming season, and will run defences ragged.
Is that what was happening with the Pompey stewards?
I missed it kinda pathetic if one of our fans was shouting abuse in a friendly although a section of Pompey fans were also doing it.
The thing i did find funny was the same fans i could see booing Ben Haim every time he touched the ball, were drinking in the same pub as me before the game that had pictures of Mandaric & Redknapp, maybe they should consider who actually almost destroyed their club.

I felt that George and Igor started showing glimpses of a good understanding yesterday. Not everything worked, obviously, but they definitely showed signs of being on the same wavelength.
Many thanks for that; no sign of it on ours yet. Two cracking goals and nice to see the little and large(r) link up play for the first. Good to see Danny Hollands enjoying himself too; He'll always be fondly remembered here for his big part in THAT season.

I do not have Player so rely on CAFC tweets. They were coming about every 5 minutes, so I went onto Pompey Live, (which is what we use to have before The Wall), and the commentator kept you right up with play about 2 to 3 times a minute, and it did not seem to be biased, certainly an improvement on ours
