We'll see. We might be getting the players, but I'm not convinced about the manager. Hope he proves me wrong but I predict that we will finish the season with a different manager to what we started it with.
But we don't really know enough about both managers and players. Nobody can argue that money hasn't been spent. I wonder what Chrissy might have achieved if he had that sort of money available last summer. My big fear is that the owner's scouts are useless. That isn't necessarily the case, I am just going by what I saw last season. We have to see how it pans out this! As people have said - we probably won't know until mid-September. We could be strong or we could be totally rubbish. I'm desperately looking for the evidence that it might be the former!
I always set a cut off of around halloween/bonfire night, before I start criticising if need be, by then big bob should have bedded in and we will know where we stand
Without wanting to appear overly positive it does seem we might be making some progress.
The Valley looking trim The squad being improved, or at least expanded Commercial deals arriving
Better than might have been hoped for?
Generally things are looking up all those things you point out are positives and right now I'm fairly optomistic that we can at least improve on last seasons final position (maybe push for a mid-table finish).
I don't trust the scouting team either, there's way too much 'he has played at this level internationally' and not enough making sure hes a fine mould for the Championship. Imo.
There are three players we've signed that hold potential, Buyens, Vetokele & Gudmundsson. Vetokeles performance relies heavily on the support he receives.
He has AA, which is worrying me. Yes, players he has signed have potential, but that's not to say they will fulfill it. Dowie spent a fortune and destroyed us, really hope it won't happen again, but it might.

Luckily for RD the fortune he is spending he doesn't neccesarily lose, as he moves them about the network until they reach their potential then can cash in if the offers right. The PP transfer, we all loved it, fans thinking we will get towards play offs as we're spending money, the money wasn't spent on us it was spent on an asset, that funnily enough looked barely worth a 100k let alone the figure he was. I don't think the team will mould very easily and not many of these players will fulfil their potential, imagine a couple of injuries down the spine of our team. Morrison, Cousins & Jackson, could cause havoc.
Hope any doubt is proved wrong but I've held this since RD took over, I don't trust what he's doing on the football side of things, throwing shit at a wall won't make it stick.
We won't know anything until we start playing for real. Let's just wait and see. The biggest unknown I think is Big Bob. There's never any guarantee with managers. They can be blinding with one club and appalling with the next so let's just wait and see how he does with us. I'm cautiously optimistic but the manager, for me, is the big unknown.

Atletico, you may be right, that's part of the beauty of football. We could get relegated. On the other hand we could make the play offs. I think either is unlikely and we are more likely to end up half way. I do think you're unneccesarily pessimistic though.
A lot depends on the relationship Peeters is building with Damien Matthew, Johnnie Jackson and other senior players.
Apparently the first thing Riga did when arriving at Charlton, was to sit down with his coaching staff and skipper, allowing them to tell him what was needed in the Championship, and working together to plot survival.
If Peeters is taking a similar path, then no reason why we shouldn't be in good hands.
This is a wierd season, in that I could see us being relegated and I could see us promoted. Depends on whether the people running the football side know what they are doing or not. The evidence I have seen so far suggests they don't, but I don't have enough evidence for this to be conclusive.

I'm pessimistic about it all, but not unneccesarily IMO. Our 'long-term' experience in this league goes as far as Damian Matthews, Morrison & Jackson. Bob will be relying a lot on Damian Matthews and his team, for scouting other teams, the fine details. 4 years at a lower level Belgium team isn't anywhere near vastly experienced in management.
It's all opinion though, not everyone will agree with my emphasis on the 'gelled' factor in the league, I would be 100x more shocked if we go up than if we go down. The best team we play pre-season will be Peterborough, Gibraltar XI & Welling are almost non-entities quality wise, there is a lot more emphasis on this pre-season than any other due to the fact half of this team, and management is brand new and not played together.

doing himself in this window. Just a few more and I'll be over the moon.
By then you can usually tell roughly how the season will pan out.
Oh and I think RD is doing a good job for the club.
Think I've mentioned before that, IMHO, what we need is quality, and not necessarily quantity.

In the meantime, the summer is here, the sun is shining and we're signing brand new talent that looks great on Youtube!
