i have lived here since 1987, so know a little, and yes, there are obviously exceptions to my assertion, but they, with zionist occupied palestine, aka is-it-real, exemplify global arrogance and smug entitlement...sure the u.s. footie team are punching above their weight and have attracted some (ahhhh, root for the underdog) interest, but they still stand for the swaggering country and policies they represent.

Time for you to go back I should think. With your attitude it's not surprising that you find them as you do.
i could have put all the dosh on the planet on getting the lazy/obligatory "go back where you came from" reaction. i get it all the time over here when the opposing viewer has nothing substantial to offer...yawwwwwnnnn.... the problem is from birth most u.s. dwellers are told and believe that the u.s. is the greatest country in the world, indeed that there is even a competition, whereas, most of the rest of us acknowledge our dark past, admit our foibles and grand mistakes, and indeed apologize for them. contrite, self-effacing, self-deprecation - are these found anywhere in the u..s vocabulary? anyway, i'm going back to footie or i'll be red carded soon:>) ....and still hope ghana emerge from the group for footie reasons too... btw, i am currently scouting tropical relocations in case you have the i.n.s. chase me down ;>)))

haha - I'm sure you do get the "go back to where you came from" line quite a lot!! Personally that's not what I was getting at though; I'm more curious as to why you would actually stay there if the you dislike the people you're surrounded by so much!
Patriotism is pretty much expected in the US though. Even without the patriotic aspect though, if someone from another country moved over to England and decided that he dislikes English people, that our politics stink and that we need to apologise more for the dark patches in our history... well, I think many people would most likely advise them in very polite terms that they should reconsider their stay here.
Was just curious as to why you put yourself through such agony?
I can't see too many people disagreeing with you about Ghana. Personally I'm enjoying the world cup for how unpredictable it's been; Portugal and Spain going out in the group stages for example. It's making for some great viewing actually!
oh yes, i forgot that's the other one that anyone who doesn't toe the party line gets - "you must be a damn commie"....yawnnnn, so predictable...and yes, cuba is on the possibles list...we just returned from haiti, ecuador and jamaica, thanks for the good wishes;>)
(big model) politics and politicians in general stink worldwide, and also, i don't defend britain's dark past either. i live in el-lay, it's not agony, and tolerate it, mainly for the warm sunshine and daily organic famers markets, but luv and myself are focused on our exit to tropical climes, in the next year hopefully...tired of explaining why i live here amongst myriad other reasons;>)
Came to this game as neutral and found myself increasingly rooting for the US, which was a surprise to me. But the way they carried on fighting throughout reminded me a lot of how I expect England to play (if only..). Portugal OTOH were a right mix, bit of a sense of entitlement there I thought. And regardless of the final cross, how many misses can CR make in one game? This group's conclusion is going to be exciting I think.
