Simon Walton

With the news from the bulletin that Walton has been banned for five games after his 3rd red card in 12 days/games (can't remember which, delete as appropriate), do you think he'll be a liability next season?

Will Pards keep him next season whatever league we're in, I for one think he has a part to play for us, but he'll need to be reigned in a bit, but as someone said before Pardew has a history of turning 'difficult' players around.

Comments

  • I think Pards is capable of sorting him out. I just don't know enough of his ability to say whether he's one to tame or one to ship out.
  • his tackle was naughty - more frustration in it than malice to be fair but was a tad late
  • Three sendings off and a few yellows are a sign of a rash head and perhaps a lack of maturity. We can't afford to have a player go missing for chunks of the season because he's suspended, or tip-toeing around in matches because he's on a yellow. Moreover it makes him a target, opponents will know to niggle him a bit in the hope of getting a reaction, and on the evidence of this last season they'll get it. I hope he has a part to play at Charlton, but not until he matures a little, at 19 there's still plenty of time for that to happen and for him to enjoy a good career with us. But whether we loan him out for another few months or bring him to the Valley depends on a number of factors - assuming that ZZ doesn't immediately return and that Song returns to Arsenal then we will need a midfielder - Holland and Walton could make a good partnership in the centre, and we still don't know what division we'll be playing in. If its the CCC then he's shown himself able to play to that standard, I'm not sure that he's ready for the EPL yet though.
  • he's on loan and probably caught between wanting to make a name for himself, out of sight, out of mind and feeling like he's got nothing to lose...bring him back to charlton and play him in the premiership and i suspect his tackling will be more controlled...
  • to be fair his 2nd red card was for nothing. Nought wrong with a few hot heads in the team.
