Pitch Invasions

Nearly every team in the playoffs have done this after getting to wembley. I bet orient will tonight if they win

What gets me is this would never happen at the valley...It never has. Why?

Are our fans to scared? or is our security to regimented and strict.

Its a one off thing really isn't it. I don't see the big deal.

  • The last person I ever saw run on the pitch was when we had the old north stand. He managed to escape out that old gate that was in the north east corner. He had about 40 stewards chasing after him. Even when he was aving it on his toes down floyd road they were still on his tail..

    Get a life....
  • There was one against boro last game of the season. 94-95??? And I think there was one against wolves.
  • Personality needed first.
  • Well the supporters who are most likely to start one are in an upper tier, also if you look at the design of the north lower, it's elevated off ground level so unlike a lot of grounds where you can just step over the hoardings, you'd have to climb down which is even more akward when you've got a hundred jobsworths keep you in.
  • yeah. some clubs like derby, burnley etc do have one of those. Anyway all you north upper crew are fooked unless you bring a parachute.

best will we get is a bunch of old boys with zimmer frames coming out the west lower.
  • How are we supposed to get on the pitch when we aren't even allowed to stand. Bum shuffle down the steps.
  • Well we tried a pitch invasion against Carlisle when we won promotion from League One and the club got in trouble from the FA for us doing it (even though it was Carlisle's responsibility to stop it happening).. the police even wanted the club to identify those who had ran onto the pitch but we refused

Think because of that day the club have been too scared to allow it to happen
  • the club and the security need to appreciated that if it weren't for us fans they wouldn't even have jobs....

we want one day to celebrate with our players and we don't even get that!!

    shocking.
  • O's on the pitch. Good on 'em

Definitely one against Wolves in the 90s. I left F Block and got on the pitch. I think I came a little.

    Sheffield United didn't...

    It was just a play-off place :-(
  • I imagine A block will be starting a few pitch invasions next season.
  • It does look pretty embarrassing to be pitch invading after a semi-final win. I hope we'd never do it.
  • C'mon everybody knows not to run with a hot flask!!!!

I was in the E block that day. Yes it was wolves I remember once everyone got on the pitch no one really knew what to do. Lol I think we went up to the away end and then the old bill got us off the pitch. There was a few of us that got on the pitch when leaburn scored up at Blackburn one year. The steward just opened the gate.
  • The easiest stand to get onto the pitch from is the West as the seating goes right down to ground level unlike the other 3 stands.

The least likely stand to start a pitch invasion is the West stand :-)
  • Yep was one versus Wolves. I think it happened on the last home game generally back then regardless.

All I did was run to the penalty spot, turned to face the Covered End arms aloft and gave it a big 'COME ON' before trotting off again. All done and dusted in under ninety seconds lol
  • Before the final game of the recent promotion season people on here we're wetting themselves in anger at the prospect of a pitch 'invasion'.
  • Jacko showed us how hard it is to get into the north stand from pitch level so I doubt it will be any easier the other way round!
  • To be fair, what have has happened in the last 10 years to warrant a pitch invasion? Also can't get on the pitch from the north upper so rules out a lot of the people who'd be up for it. I would love a pitch invasion but personally I think its gotta be in the moment and not pre planned.
  • Was on the pitch at Selhurst after we got thru to full members cup final.
  • To be honest they probably tell them at other games too, but it's impossible to arrest 15k fans if they all run at the same time, unfortunately we dither and dally and one or two try it and get carted out, a mass invasion couldn't be stopped

Just back from Orient. Terrific evening. Because of the Parky I was only the 6,798th on the pitch, but it was a special feeling to be out there - first time in a long while. (The pitch was in fantastic condition.) Our old friends Young Kevin Lisbie (as in Young Mr Grace), David Mooney and Elliott Omozusi all had sound games. Proper stadium, proper fans - haven't heard that since Bramall Lane ....

I've tried to get on from the North Upper, but was about 40 feet short.

Lower North lads would have to negotiate a fence.

East & West are too old to run and someone would have to wake them up.

    Didn't you see me then?

  • Orient style!! Can't imagine that down the valley - even our oldies are less passionate :-)
