Norwich chanting "We'll never play you again" at the Valley in 2010....

Anyone remember their 1 nil win at the Valley in 2010 that lead to their promotion to the championship that year? Well:

bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27273461

We absolutely battered them that day and couldnt score, and they had 1 decent chance and took it. Fraser Forster played a blinder in goal for them that day. After the final whistle they were chanting "We'll never play you again", like we were some non-league team they just happened to be playing in a cup game or something.

Anyway, with their relegation confirmed, this is one thing Ill remember when we play them next season....

  • Wow, you've been storing that one up for a while!

It was a memorable end to that season, the next home game we beat Leeds with a late goal, so yeah not too hard to remember....
  • Some Palace blokes I know took it personally when we sang that to them when we were at Sellout. Was it our hope of us being top flight forever or the fact they were up sh*t creek financially? (And who cares?)
  • Fulham did exactly the same thing seven years ago. Outrageous.

Come off it, they never sung anything :-)

Yes indeed. Remeber a few of them in the pub afterwards mocking us, telling us that we got thumped 4-0 in our 'cup final' and we'll never be able to compete with them ever again.

  • Yes, what makes it worse is that Grant Holt scored a late equaliser in the game at Norwich earlier in the season which should have been given as a foul. We were top of the league at the time. Truth is we should have done the double over Norwich that year and we would have had automatic promotion then. Makes their relegation this year all the sweeter. Karma.

  • i make Norwich right

the delight our fans had at beating them as they went down with us in 2009 was more cringey than them taking the piss going up as champions at our place

I like Norwich. Good family club with a friendly ground. Other than being a touch inbred they are quite like us.

You'll always get a bit of stick from the opposition fans. It's not as if we haven't given any out over the years.

    A touch??

The irony (one of many ironies) that day was our away support was pretty much half the crowd.
  • I remember it very well. Their fans are incredibly cocky, cannot stand them.

The hope that the club would go out of business. :-)

Only a minority, although it did lead to a stand up if you're going down chant that the whole ground sang, you probably found that cringey as well.
  • Let it go ;-)

Seperate issue but Fulham have been long-overdue coming down - can you imagine their home gates next season...

The total will be boosted by plenty of teams taking up the 7k away allowance - including us I would hope. Boat trip anyone ?

  • Cracking away day, hope for an early season game in the sun, at Carrow Road.
  • Elephant
  • Also, let's remember that having already been relegated we beat them 5-2 at The Valley the year before and, from memory, we really enjoyed it!

Despite the last couple of years, and the parachute money, Norwich are not a much bigger club than us and there is every chance that we will be above them in the league pyramid in the near future. I would ignore it and put it down to 'banter'.

I also hate Fulham, so I couldn't be happier if they were to fall into the third division!

Did they!? were there even any home fans that game? thought they had funky coloured seats..
  • Im pretty sure about 10K of Fulhams home attendance in the Prem are tourists, so I wouldnt be surprised if their average crowd struggles to hit 14-15K regularly.
