  • i think we should all paint our breasts red and go as Robins
  • he he
  • what crappy gimmicks? ;-) I am looking forward to laughing at people who wear their operation riverside t-shirt while their mate sports an Ewood one. haha. they might as well give out trainspotters flags, or charlton blankets.
  • each to there own, personally i think they might not do any gimmicks this time.

personally i find the gimmicks quite embarrasing. but i think it makes the day more enjoyable for the 'family fan' and i doubt we will take 7,500 without this.

For me it's a toss up between 3-4000 hardcore charlton, not geeky hang on fans and scores of children.. or 7,500 fans which include these fans and also the gimmicks etc. I'm undecided

Similarly i don't were my charlton replica shirt to matches but I still think replica shirts should be sold
  • I personally don't think we'll shift anywhere close to 7500. I'd be surprised if we take 5000 up there.
  • 5000 would be brillant,i think people will be surprised by how many we shift,of course we need 3 points from the next two games
  • 7,500 - or even 5000 - sounds like a lot by our standards.

But backalong in the olden days, we took 11,000 to Old Trafford in '94.

If we were playing Man Yoo instead of Blackburn on 28 April, would we sell 7,500 £15 tickets and subsidised/free travel?
  • granted blackburn is a boring ground and club, but its a massive game

I think we took 4,000 to Blackburn in the cup before the 10,000 Manure game

  • weren't as many as 4,000 Bing, think it was about 2,300.
  • I can't go!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Working!!!!!!!!
    Argh!!!!!!

    We won't sell 7,500 & if it's called operation anything we'll sink like a stone :-(

Exaggerating the size again, ho hum!! At least I was one of the 2,300.

Yes i know but you can't get a train there and not everyone will want to sit on a coach for 6-7 hours or pay 50 quid for a flight. 2 or 3 of my mates have already said no so i expect others will too.
  • How many went to Man City in the end? 1500?
I'll be very suprised if we reach 3500 for Blackburn.

Like most here, I would prefer no more "operation"s - but such a name probably does boost numbers
  • Agree Operation is a bad thing.

I find it all a bit sad that we have some of the biggest away games for years and people will only go when its laid on a plate.

Everton is more important than Blackburn and I doubt if we'll have a 1000 there.

Not knocking anyone who is watching the moody feed in a boozer but this is having a major effect on our away numbers.
  • It really does amaze me the amount of negative comments we get on threads like this when the club try to to something for the fans, Words really do fail me.

I suppose the smallest mistake we make on the Demelza Charity day is gonna attract loads of negative stuff :-)
  • i think the club are making a great effort for our fans and it is a superb gesture but i wish we had decent away support like west ham, villa, pompey etc rather than the pitiful numbers that follow us away and need incentives to make trips to these important fixtures... our away support is crap... FACT
  • they just don't care about us Ketters - if they showed a bit of appreciation of our support like giving us a free season ticket or having some of the cheapest tickets in the league or paid for us to go away or let us play on the pitch.

    Just something would do...

(by the way i think some of the negative comments are aimed towards the supporters rather than the club, i.e. those who only take up offers rather than go on a regular basis)

correct we only have a small number of truly passionate fans who are mad about the club

  • What you have to bear in mind is that we lost a lot of support during our years away from the Valley. I'm 28 and went to Selhurst and Upton park with my dad but there won't have been many who did. So now whereas other clubs have loads of blokes in their 20s with no commitments and a lot of disposable income to spend on away days, we don't due to the support we lost during our exile. It'll get better over the next few years as the youngsters get older.
Teams like Newcastle/Sunderland/Pompey etc have good away support due to their catchment areas. Everyone there supports the same team. My mates support Charlton/Millwall/West ham/Spurs and Arsenal. If there was just 1 team the away days would be quality with 15-20 of us going away but due to the different clubs we're all split up into groups of 4 or 5.
  • I think our True support is nearer the 15,000 mark which when we drop out of the top league (Which is inevitable some time in the future, not this season though) will be shown up when the Premiership fans we currently attract drift away. Away support will only be built up over time & more postive away performances which we are now getting post curbs.
  • As others have said Ketman, i think its frustration with ourselves in that all that we can draw 27k at home every other week, our away following, and a better signal of the true core of our support, is little different to when we used to get 6,000 at home.
  • [cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]our away support is crap... FACT

Our home support is not much better at times.
  • to not be able to sell out spurs and chelsea (admittedly it is expensive but pompey always sell it out and they have smaller home numbers and further to travel) is an example of how poor our hardcore away support is

Can we stop beating ourselves up, please? Whatever happened to positive belief??
