Thanks to Socham, our resident FM and contract expert.
I've removed the loan players and put the players out of contract in a separate section. We know some players such as Danny Green have said they are leaving but when it is on the OS.

Of the 18 that are out of contract, I would only offer contracts to 7 of them.
It is definitely going to be a long summer.
The "Out of Contracts" is a decent squad. Would they beat the "In contracts" in a one-off game? Outs have better defence but little up front.
The remaining squad consists of only 20 players and only one is in their 30s (Jackson). Some the ages may be lagging behind recent birthdays but it is otherwise a mid-20s and below squad.
Feel free to re-calculate the ages and work out an average age someone
As it stands 11 of the current squad have little or no first team experience and we have one centre half.
Of course much will change over the coming weeks and months as "out of contract" players re-sign and new players join. Some more academy players will no doubt join the pro- ranks. Players in contract could also be sold.
But think of Blackpool. They have only five out of their 26 senior players on contracts.
Wood, Poyet, Muldoon, Morrison, Hamer, Dervite. Osborne at a push too...
That could be seen, and had already been spun, as a good thing as we shed their wages which can then be used to boost the wages of those that sign or re-sign.
In all seriousness though, thanks for doing this and updating it - it's extremely helpful.
And I thought this seasons forward line was weak...can't wait until next season.
Only out of contract player that Roly will re-sign for next season is Dervite.
Poyet will turn him down and the rest will be scrapped including poor old Morro who was an SCP man through and through.
Of course if something better comes along......so I guess its a waiting game for the players out of contract.
FWIW - I would keep, Dervite, Hamer, Hughes, Morro and Poyet.

Lord help us.
Similarly upfront (and one could include Harriott in the strikeforce?!) there is plenty of room for improvement - perhaps Sordell comes back? If Riga does stay on then we can be sure that he will require that squad weaknesses are addressed asap.
One thing is for sure and that is the average age of the squad is going down. It is also clear that the average value of the squad members is going up. It depends upon how much credibility one gives to transfermarkt but from their valuation it looks like the average player value is increasing from 350k to 600k this summer. Just for reference the teams in the playoffs appear to have their 18 best players rated at £18-22M or in excess of £1M per player. Many of our best players are valued at £625k. With a revaluation at some point over the summer this may well increase.
At first it might sound improbable but if we can retain the best youth players and they improve with age and good coaching then it is possible that the best 18 players at CAFC might be worth £15M in a year or two!
CAFC is gently closing the gap between its squad and the play off teams - I wonder how quickly Duchatelet wishes to close that gap? And is he going for youth development or careful acquisition to build the squad? Or a mix of both?
As with most others, in an ideal world I'd keep Morrison, Dervite and Poyet as essentials. At least one of them won't happen I'd wager. I'd like to also keep Hamer but won't die in a ditch over him if what people say about Pope is true. If we are really struggling for numbers there is a case for Wood as a reserve CB/generally useful defender. But that's it. Despite his end of season blast, we will be well shot of Sordell who appears to have a potato mountain on his shoulder and if Roly or Katrien have any cohones they should buy out Church's contract and ship him out. I cannot comment on the majority of the youngsters on either list because apart from those who have played for the first team I have not seen them. Of those I am familiar with, and recognising that its a bit unfair to jump to early conclusions, I don't fancy Piggott at all, Fox looks promising but limited, and Harriott has just saved himself but needs a lot of work.
All of that said, what I would do matters not a jot as its not my money or my social experiment. I'm optimistic that Roland did not buy us to piss his money up a tree and hopefully he knows a little more now about the standard (sorry) required than he did a few months ago. I'm relatively optimistic. Its time for a clear out. I think we'll see a couple of (relatively) marquee signings, a lot of Eurotrash (but better than the stuff we've had so far) and a promotion for a lot of kids. It's gonna be a fun summer.
PS. Thanks to Scoham/Henry for doing this.
Peter Parsley will come good.Sheff Utd
Replacing most of the first team is one hell of a gamble - instant success not a given, although I will admit that Chris Powell managed to do it.
