Chris Eagles

Released by Bolton today. Wonder if we will go back and try again.

Comments

  • He rejected us when we made a move for him on the last day of the loan window. So I don't think he would join us?
  • No thanks. We need young players who want to do well and play at the very top. Not disinterested has beens.
  • Really very odd he chose not to go out on loan, even if it were with another Club. Why pass up a chance to put himself in the shop window? Not exactly an indicator of commitment or desire. Perhaps he's lost it?
  • ££££££££ = no
  • If he didn't want to join us a couple of months ago, there's no way i'd go in for him now.

Anyway, he doesn't really fit the profile.

We're tending to look for young & keen.

    He's old & lazy.
  • Cannot have anyone playing for us with that name.

I know what you mean. Can't believe that Powell is not here anymore
  • Only played 16 games in the league this season but played a lot the season before.

Wonder why Bolton never played him as much?

Anyway I wouldn't fancy him at our club, what if he scored a hatrick and we would have to chant "Eagles". Makes my skin crawl.
  • Read somewhere he is going to Middlesbrough. Don't want him here anyway rejected us once why go back in for him hardly Ronaldo is he?

  • He had his chance to come to us. He blew it. He can claim job seekers for all I care.
  • Biiiird of preyyyyy, biiiiird of preyyyyy (to the tune of simon church) has to be the chant if we get him
  • Bollocks to him.

We offered him a quick bunk up and he said no, we werent sexy enough. There's no way we should then ask if he wants to have a long term relationship just because he's now single.
  • Jog on mate. You missed your chance
  • He wasn't prepared for the fight with us in march so he can do one. Good player though.

    Ala Simon Church
  • No thanks, turned us down four months ago so would only come now if he was desperate
  • No, no, no - he preferred to do nothing rather than play for us or anyone else for that matter - what do you think we would get when he is on a smaller wage? If anyone recruited on that basis in the real world they would be considered stupid in the extreme.

Totally unfair. For all his shortcomings he is not lazy.

  • It's a no from me.....

Probably because we were offering deal till end of the season only - because we didn't know if we'd be relegated.

He probably thought it was not worth the risk getting injured and he may as well sit it out till the end of the season and pick up a nice, fat two or three year deal with a Championship club (maybe even us) then.

Annoying from our POV but I can see why he might do it, after all, if he did pick up a serious injury while with us neither Bolton (post end-June) or us would be paying him while he recovered.

I think the point was that, although Simon Church is young and keen, he hasn't exactly kept the scorekeeper busy so "young and keen" isn't an end in itself.
