how many spare seats were there yesterday? how come people don't pass on tickets to friends/relatives when they cannot make it?
I knew at least 3 people who wanted to go yesterday but didn't as the seats weren't convenient, however, the 2 people to my right weren't there, and because the guy i sit with couldn't get a ticket for his g/f in the same stand before she heads back to spain to college, he didn't come either.
why don't people call the club to tell them that they can't make the game and couldn't pass on the ticket, and then the club can sell their seats? there were tons of 3/4 seats in little blocks all over the place, and its not much of an inconvenience to let the club know you cant make it so that they can sell the seat?
I know some people may not have known till the last minute, but i bet a fair few people had known in advance that they couldn't make the game, and someone else could have benefitted?

They stopped doing it about six years back. Dunno why, it is sad to see ST seats going empty. Probably too much aggravation.
[cite]Posted By: suzisausage[/cite]how hard is it tho? to call up the club, say you can' tmake it, and you sit in seat "blah blah" then it goes into the pot of seats available!
how is that aggravation. sometimes the club don't help themselves. they could make a bit more money for not a lot of effort.
Then your plans get changed at the last moment and you are suddenly available to go but can't because you did the 'nice' thing, so you don't bother doing it anymore.
It may sound unlikely but it's happened a few times to me, mainly with court attendances sometimes causing me to miss midweek matches, it gets settled a night before the hearing, or sometimes even later than that, meaning I can go to the match.
It's not always practical, obviously with things like holidays you shouldn't have a problem.
Whats even stranger, at the beginning of the year I finally got the other half to agree to come to a Charlton match, go to the box office, ask for a ticket for the seat next to me 'sorry sir that's a season ticket seat' 'yeah, but you haven't sold the season ticket, so can i just have a one off' 'im sorry sir, we have sold it' 'really? I've never seen anyone sitting in it.' Straight up, the guy has been to about 5 games this season, what a load of crap.
fair enough stu, but there were a fair few seats empty on monday evening.
easter = holidays. i'd say 50% of those empty on monday were already aware they couldn't make the game, due to booked holidays for kids being on holiday
i agree for one off circumstances its probably not best to, but there shouldn't be that many empty
a chance to fill the ground and the club make more money for nothing surely is worth our time?
bloke next to me didn't go monday as a st holder as he couldn't get his overseas g/f a ticket and the 2 st holders next to me didn't show up. what a waste of 3 seats, some extra noise and a bit of money.
Actually, I take back my earlier comment, I'm quite glad the guy next to me rarely turns up, on one occasion he came last year he headbutted the metal wall, yeah, made me feel really safe.

But things change at short notice, the two st holders could have been stuck in traffic on the way home and couldn't make it, it's not perfect, but I can't see the club putting a system in when they were having to text people at 2pm on match day to remind them that seats were still available
you're not reading my posts. why would they have to text someone to remind them about seats being available? these seats that were going to be available due to st holders plans or even holidays would probably be known to be free months in advance! people go on holiday in august and miss the first few games of the season every year?
holidays getting cancelled? chances? i'm not saying tell the club you may not be able to make it, it is only a service people would use if they could definately not go to a game.
ie pickering can't come to sheff u, so has given me his st for my brother to use. if he had no friends at charlton, he still definately can't use his ticket, so he could approach the club to sell it on. not for him to make money but for the club to fill an empty seat.
pickering wouldn't make money from it, but the club would? whats the difficulty in that?
if i go on holiday and couldn't pass my ticket on for a fan to use and to cheer on the team, then i'd inform the club that i wont be there if they want to sell my seat. easy!
The Lass & I have gave up our ST's 2 years ago as it costs so much to get to the Valley. The last season we had them we knew we couldn't get to many matches so we gave the tickets to a guy sitting in front of us, anyone in the area could use them. When we did come to a match we phoned the guy up and met him by the club shop and got our tickets back. It worked very well. However the club scheme used to be excellent - maybe someone who knows Henry could see it he could get it reinstated.
