I've bet on us to go down at 22-1 which will hopefully ensure our safety.

    Disgraceful !
  • Despite Pearson's best intentions and his dream of 100 points he'll struggle to put out a sober 11, not even Kevin Phillips can (quite) beat Donny on his own.
Watford will be able to play in relaxed fashion tonight with one or two putting on a show for contracts and Riga's misapprehension that he has many footballers at his disposal will see the hornets cruise to a facile 1 or 2 goal victory.
Holloway will have 'wall wound up to bursting point to inspire them to get at least a point from bournemouth.
Needing anything from the Blackpool game will ensure mental collapse and physical capitulation from Charlton's threadbare squad. We rarely get anything from that windswept venue at the best of times.
So Charlton's survival is in Birmingham's hands - Wigan's season has come to a full stop and Bolton have nothing to play for.
Who do you suppose really has it between the ears in this situation Clark or Riga?
Plus Birmingham have Macheda and Zigic
Can anyone realistically see Birmingam gaining fewer than 2 points from their 2 matches?

    haha thats the spirit
  • Leicester have had their post promotion mini slump, I'm sure they'll want to end the season on a high.

The Doncaster game was a strange one, as the Covered End goalmouth was much worse than the JS one, we could easily have pulled the score back, especially with them playing the whole second half on that quagmire with 10 men
  • Leicester will be picking up the trophy on Saturday too, they'll want to go out on a high
  • If Millwall lose 0-1 and Doncaster get a draw at Leicester how do they sort out who stays up (assuming it's down to those 2)? Do they go to goals scored or the results of their matches together? Personally i think they should do it alphabetically!

Both teams end up with the same amount of points and the same goal difference.

    Goals scored.

True but I remember losing to Ipswich at home on the last day of our Championship winning season.

  • Doncaster for me.
That pitch will give them something to talk about of what might have been for years as they play their way round the far reaches of the football league.
  • We have had a few championship / promotion celebrations over the years and the visiting team always ends up being party poopers. I can totally see Donny winning at Leicester.

    The following could easily happen:

    1) We draw tonight
    2) Brum beat Wigan (who have failed to help us every time this year) to go above us.
    3) Donny beat Leicester who are already on the beach
    4) We would then fold at Blackpool in typical Charlton 'relegation crunch game style'.

The key for me is actually if Brum and us draw tonight.

That would leave both Donny and Brum having to win tough away games to send us down which would be very painful to take if that happened.

  • I think it is most likely to be between Birmingham and Doncaster.

So do I, but Ipswich were play-off bound, not relegation strugglers. AND our form was by then quite poor (no wins in previous 5 games)
  • We sorted out Hartlepool when we were already champions, hopefully the karma will swing back in Leicester's direction

They also could still take second place if Citeh failed to win.
  • The thing with that Ipswich game, is that we had completely dialled it in from before we were even promoted.
  • I could be wrong but
    if :

    * Birmingham take four points or more
    * Donny win by five or more on Saturday
    * Millwall also win

    and

    * We draw 3-3 tonight and then again with Blackpool

    then

Blackpool and Charlton would have identical records and presumably would have to play off to avoid relegation

It then goes down to Rock, Paper, Scissors
  • Cant see Donny beating Leicester, even a draw will send them down (assuming Brum pick up a point)

If we lose both by a few goals then a draw for Doncaster at Leicester would see them above us. If goal difference is equal then our goals scored becomes a problem.

  • My view has changed completely from last Saturday morning (blackpool dead and buried before we even have to play them) to this afternoon (Doncaster) to tomorrow... I hate to say it, but this season will go right to the wire !!
  • Well, bookies are no mugs when it comes to probability. William Hill had us as 25/1 for relegation last night.

I strongly suspect that we will be safe (in the end). But we all know that with Charlton, we will be made to sweat.
  • We'll finish on 51 points.

  • Birmingham to go down, they'll collect no points from their last 2 games. Lee Clark looks a beaten man.

I've also done this very same bet. Purely if the unthinkable does happen then my season ticket next season is paid for from the winnings.
However, Im convinced it will be Doncaster.
  • Birmingham City have never lost to Wigan at St Andrew's, so that's them safe.

Going with Doncaster. 3-1 Leicester will seal it.
  • I said brum would go all along but I've got a feeling both of us will win tonight and last day donny win and millwall let in an equaliser with 5 mins to go and are doomed
I wouldn't like to be a bournemouth fan trying to get out if there if it does happen though!
  • Can't see Wigan beating Brum, even though Brum always lose at home. And I can see Donny picking something up at Leicester, so we have to win tonight. Millwall will be fired up - depends a lot on how up for it the Cherries are and whether Millwall fans get on their team's back.
  • We are deep in the smelly brown stuff! If we need a result at Blackpool we're stuffed! Can't see anything other than a comfortable Watford win tonight!

Thos records don't mean anything, and how many times have they actually played each other in recent seasons?
  • I've got a horrible feeling that we are in for an uncomfortable ride and won't win another point. That said, I think we'll still stay up because I can see Brum doing the same.

What I'm really hoping though is that Like Leatherhead (see the One Rule For thread) Millwall have been docked 6 points for irregularities, but the league are awaiting the end of the season to announce it ;-)
  • Going to be nip and tuck Saturday afternoon, however we will not be involved as after tonight's win we will be safe.

Can see Brum getting a point at most against Wigan tonight.

Donny can easily go to Leicester on Saturday and upset the form book, Leicester will be a carnival atmosphere, but Donny will be fighting tooth and nail. I see a 3pts here for Donny, keeping them safe.

Millwall find it tough at home, and there will be getting even more frustrated as results filter through, and in true Holloway fashion if things aren't going their way he will play four forwards in the last half hour, this will then enable Bournemouth to pick them off, what will be key in this game are the officials, one weak one could quite easily end up giving Millwall a penalty to save the grief. Point at best for Millwall.

Brimingham, same as Donny, are better away from home, and with a good vocal following i can see them getting atleast a point maybe all three as Bolton have nothing to play for.

This then would throw Blackpool into the mix, but i think both clubs will go out and settle for the draw, not committing themselves to much with a 0-0 on the cards.
    18 Charlton 46 49
    19 Blackpool 46 47
    20 Doncaster 46 47
    22 Birmingham 46 47
    20 Millwall 46 46

Will no doubt be wrong, we will lose tonight and Saturday, everyone else wins and we are down.
